Baldrick
ASOM, I posted a thread a few days ago about a Farmers Weekly article on pigeons destroying OSR. I have seen any pigeons on our wheat so far, but try as I might, I cannot keep them off the OSR. A colleague farms down in Orsett, and he has complianed about the pigeons battering his OSR. A Sick Old Man
We have the same problem over here, the farmer has placed a gas gun in the most affected field but it has still been picked. Rabbits are by far the worst pest, we have had a lot of damage. They are difficult to deal with as they are VERY shy, I will be back to ferreting this winter and hope to really sort them out. Shooting just about keeps up with the amount being bred  I prefer ferrets as I dig out the worst burys, we do have a lot of rabbits that migrate from ajoining land, a right pain But as far as crops go OSR is the favorite food it seems,
poontang
I went and shot a few rounds of skeet at Parkford. The wind was unbelievable, and the clays were more like sporting birds. Scores were of no consequence so just a bit of fun today. Just to give you an idea of just how windy it was, on station 4 i could load one barrel and call for a pair, shoot the high bird, and while the low bird was still hanging in the breeze, break the gun reload and then shoot the low bird while it was STILL six feet off the ground. lurcherboy
In planning the bank holiday weekend I made a school boy error of looking at the weather forecast for guidance. The weather forecast was all doom and gloom (wind, rain, sleet and perhaps snow as I recall for the whole weekend and Monday) and so we planned for indoor stuff, shopping, chores and no shooting (save for the Essex selection gig on Sunday). Round our way today, brilliant sunshine but with a biting cold wind. Perfectly fine for outdoors though. Is it just me or are the weather forecasters more often wrong than right? They really should publish a table (like newspaper horse racing pundits) of their prediction -vs- acurate result ratio. Fall behind 60% and they are put in the stocks and pelted with rotten fruit. Anyhows, spent the morning clearing out the greenhouse - lovely in there it was - peace and quiet, radio 4 and tea. Saturday morning is the best day to be pottering around Mungler as Fee Glover is on Missing old Pealy though RIP LB
MC
The only good thing to come out of Canvey Island was Dr Feelgood I think you will find that the only good thing to come out of Canvey is the A130! The best thing that ever happened to Canvey was in 1953

Chard
Got it spot on here to. Wind and snow, then rain, then hail, then a bit more rain and lots of wind..... What did I do? Went clay shooting Me too, wasn't too bad. Couple of stands badly effected by the wind, as soon as the clays were above the tree line, they were off
