Have been working on a load to suit my .222 t3 varmint and finally managed to get some 40grn v-max bullets to try.

Groups are five shots, shot prone on bipod at 100yrds.

Load is 23.5 grns vv133,40grn v-max,col 2.130.

Not bad for a bog standard rifle i thought.

Sorry photos are not great

scallop what scope do you have on your tikka i have S&B 3-12x50 .222 and NF 5.5-22x56 on 223

I have a bushnell 4200 6-24x40 SF sitting in warne rings,i am really pleased with the scope and would like to get hold of a sunshade for range work but i cannot seem to track one down ,any ideas?

I was out on sat night after a fox but had no luck so had a go at a rabbit, dont usually bother with the 222 because of meat damage, anyway i got hunkered down into the hedge nice and steady ,rabbit was in long grass facing away from me all i could see was the back of its head and ears, placed the crosshairs between his lugs and down an inch and fired.Range was about 90yrds.

End result was a bit nasty, the bullet hit exactly where i had aimed and the top half of the rabbits head was gone, but the rest of the carcass was perfect and looked well coming out of the oven this evening!Tasted nice too

Thanks for the info,I am going to "borrow" some 120 from a mate and give that load a go,i think tinkering with loads is half the fun of owning a fullbore rifle
