Cranfield
If you buy any cammo net where the scrim is fixed to the net (as opposed to a printed sheet with holes in it), go along to your nearest Army Surplus, or Outdoor Store and buy some extra scrim. Its usually available in two shades of green and two shades of brown. Fixing this on your existing net on "bald spots", or to break up the existing colour pattern, can rejuvenate your net. I fix it on with small cable ties.

If you put "ex Army Cammo nets" in Google, you will be overwhelmed, but reduce the search to UK sites only.
bgrangeb
anyone ever worry that when the buy nets - i just ordered a stealth net that they will just be the wrong colours or texture and the birds will be think ***?
Country Boy
It don't matter what color netting you sit behind, the secret is to minimise your movements, get used to looking through the netting, cut a few strategic slots and avoid popping your head up above the netting. One thing I can't understand is : In the comics you see these guys all camoed-up in expensive jackets pants and boots - sitting behind camo netting Cheers, C.B. funky
hi the net i am using is very good i originally ordered the ghost netting but like you they were out of stock so they sent me the realtree i think its AGP or something like that .... it has a realtree material outer with a 3D leaf cutout and a netting on the inner of about 3" squares. i find it very effective it is lite and does the job well i have had birds land within ten feet of me and the only seem to flare away once i break cover. hope this helps . bgrangeb
well i just recieved the stealth net 3000.... blah blah seems good just 2 doubts its a little light coloured to use all year round i fear so its not as universal as those brown green revrsible nets you can get and it has no rings on the edge so i think i will have to cable tie them to the poles to hold them up... on the plus its quite light and can see through it fairly easily ... both ways to a point and it has a cool name... bgrangeb
well i will try the stealthnet tommorow... any tips for putting it up... its a bit lighter in colour than i was hoping and is plenty big for a 1 man hide... can you fold it over ? or just make a square and be hidden all around? rather than 3sides to make it smaller more importantly when by yourself do people find longer or shorter hides more effective? bgrangeb
well stealthnet tried... you can see through it fairly but not perfectly well and it does make plenty of space for one person... not a bad buy overall

anser2
I think its realy important to match your hide to the background colour and it helps a lot if you are wearing camo gear that also matches the background. While there are days when pigeons will commit to you decoys no matter what sort of hide you use , there are many others when the birds flare off at the last moment even if you are dead still. I think a badly placed hide has more effect on scaring the birds than bad placing of the decoys or the sun shining on a magnet arms. As a whole i do not like a solid hide , but rather one that breaks up your shape so the pigeons can see partly through it , but not enough to make you out. Provided the background is ok stealth nets are fine , but I have had problems with them in a strong wind rippling. I usualy use army style camo net , I have three in different shades and all work well against the right background. I also find hides work better when placed in the shade rather than in full sunlight. They merge with the background. Steer clear of the realtree \ treated paper type as when the sun gets behind you your shaddow shows on the net.
