paulf
Depends on how its done, Im slightly dyslexic and apt to make the odd silly typo but I usually ree read what I write. Some of the mistakes Ive read on here are cringeworthy ok its a forum but the trouble is your reinforcing bad habbits and more likely to cock up on something important. To be fair, you should probably address your own shortcomings before having a pop at someone else's spelling. All anyone needs to do is click on your name, choose "Find Member's Posts" and they can see your own spelling errors for themselves, not to mention the fairly horrific punctuation. webber
My own spelling is far from perfect, but I make good use of the spell checker provided by the Google toolbar. Posts do read much better if they are correctly spelt. webber
Mungler
I just don't bother reading long posts where I have to decipher the spelling and the punctuation - it rather defeats the point and definition of "reading". Also, life is just too short. If you can use a computer then it will not be difficult to use a spell checker or cut and paste the text into Word and use the Word spell checker. Do it enough times and you will soon see the words you are spelling incorrectly and then learn from your mistakes (as is natural human behaviour). Also, the golden rule is that "a good letter is read quickly". Use short punchy sentences and split large chunks of text into small paragraphs. I am not having a pop at Russ nor am I looking for a barny with the inhabitant dislexics of the forum, but I tell you what, if you can switch on your computer and type anything then you can use a ******* spell checker like the rest of us. Flashman
There's no excuse for poor spelling: it's bloody laziness, plain and simple. All computers have spell-checkers, some of which act automatically. Personally, I forgive poor punctuation simply because schools are disasters, but if the writer won't check his post for spelling mistakes, why should I read it? To those who say, "I don't care, I know what I mean to say" I respond: 1. A majority won't even bother to read your crayon scribbles because it's too difficult to translate it into recognisable thoughts and secondly, why bother, it's probably drivel because they cannot spell? 2. To those who disagree, respond to this post. Oh, they can't and if they do attempt a justification, see point one above. Light blue touch paper, retire a safe distance and await the PC brigade's bleeding heart justification...
Evil Elvis
you think it can be irritating try having every post comented on because you have missed out a E or a full stop or you have put a D insted of a B So take the hint!! Download firefox or google toolbar it has a spell checker that will even check posts here as you type.Or even cut and paste it into word then paste it back again!!! There's no excuse for poor spelling: it's bloody laziness, plain and simple Couldnt agree with you more flashman!!! I work in a hospital and the younger people coming in even talk in "text speak", I actually heard someone say lol the other day!!!!, one of the da's I work with needs a translater more than all the poles!!! JohnGalway
Not everyone went to school for 104 years, not everyone plays on a level pitch due to dyslexia etc. Fair play to you for posting Russ and don't let the ******** grind you down This thread displays a very unwelcomeing attitude from some. taggy
you are not thick just because you can`t spell or punctuate well ! i rarely use capital letters for example. i`m not thick either! if someone is using this site, it`s because of a common interest. not because they need to practice their english! have you seen the spelling work schools give out? no wonder a lot of us are rubbish! try to learn from mistakes . absolutley. but above all if people know you have a problem, then we can all read around the errors. can`t we?
