Dave-G
Right, I've been spoiled a bit by being given temporary access to a Pajero with blacked out rear windows etc. It's my brothers (fleabag) but now he's about finished ripping most of the frills off it and had it sprayed matte green etc it's off down to live in Cornwall for the occasional shooting weekend. I want something similar just for shooting with but cant afford to insure three vehicles (wife has a micra - I think a fourtrack or similar will be too big for the wee little girl with arthritis in her hands and knees) Any one know what the problem is with allowing a DRIVER to be insured rather than his vehicle(s)? I've seen some scruffy fourtracks with rusted wheel arch's etc that would go for very little money but the insurance would nip this idea in the bud. As a private hire taxi driver I'm limited to using certain insurers. Any ideas about what can be done?
me and my lad
every vehicle has to be insured, not just the driver
J@mes
depending on how often you want to drive it (and it being a UK model that is un-modified), you could use www.dayinsure.co.uk costs £10.50 per day, so if only using it a couple of days a month, might be worth it. not sure what would happen when it comes to taxing though as you cant use their cover notes to tax a vehicle. auto culto
every vehicle has to be insured, not just the driver None of my vehicles have insurance only me which insures any vehicle in my possession or custody ( be it a knackered skoda or a Ferrari) fully comp. Cost me £612 per year
Dave-G
Yikes - tell me more please Mr Culto My private hire insurance is just over 1K with full NBC, wifey's is about £250 for a new driver. I'd have thought with the modern insurance groups spanning such a wide band they's easily manage to provide cover up to a certain group figure. myhvslr
your wife might find the pajero easier to drive than the micra, ours is a diesel auto, power steering etc and is lovely to drive then you can trade in the micra and just change insurance over (cost bit more to run tho)

Its probably a form of motor trader policy, problem with them is usually you need a regular turn over of cars. Your best option I would guess is to try someone like admiral for a multi car policy or talk to the existing insurer of the micra about adding another vehicle and some will match the no claims. It shouldn't be too much though,
bob300w
Have a look at confused.com, seriously, I switched, finished up with the same company (Prudential) same policy, and £90 cheaper!
lurcherboy
If you go for a motor traders policy and can prove that you are one, whatever you don't use a company called Bollington. LB

You would still have to have your taxi insurance as a traders policy wont cover you to drive for hire or reward, and you are being fleeced if you are paying a grand with full ncb, have you tried swinton taxi unit?I own a taxi company and find that they are the cheapest.
