bob300w
Don't forget that they are still classed as wildfowl, even though they are on the list, therefore non-toxic shot is a must.

bob300w
52grn V-Max is the best option That's what I have found also, but didn't like to mention it! And you can usually get two shots off before they depart (so I am told !). Do I hear incoming flak......?

casts_by_fly
In steel, US #2's are good for 35-40 yd with tight patterns and centered birds. BB are better. Haven't translated that to british sizes, but I suspect a US 2 is close to a british 1 based on responses here. Thanks, Rick
pavman
hey guys what size cart's would you use on canadian geese ? if it twas Wildfowl season I would tell you i use 10G 5mm steel shot if it twas under the GL I would say the same however for a 12 G you must hit as hard as you can to stand any chance of a clean kill so hevi shot 1s would be my choice,,,,,, lets not have the 20 bore loaded with 28Gs of 3s in the head will kill anything debate http://www.basc.org.uk/media/basc_overview...ences_in_uk.pdf

anser2
The size of shot you use pepends on what type of shot it is. Would not think about useing steel less than No 1s and would prefer BBs . For tungstone 3s or bigger and 1s or bigger for bismuth. Mind you in the old lead days killed several with 4sand 5s . There is a lot of head and neck on a canada to hit with such small shot. Suffolk shooter
Remington Nitro or high speed steel in BB's. 3 or 3.5" cartridges. Flung hard and fast gives plenty of cahnce for clean kills. Pavman, you just need to learn to shoot old boy. Give up the cannon and convert to the modern ways of 12g semi auto's:P SS
