harpo_the_bad
Well... on pheasant estates they feed the pheasants in set places to keep them where they are. Don't feed them enough or in the same places and they wander. So it at least makes sense!
sambu13
yea i agree it would be very convinient, but rabbits are pests, its like feeding rats or pigeons!
sandersj89
Rabbits are a pest, pheasants are game. (Mind you if you get enough pheasants they are a pest too) Feeding rabbits is not going to work IMHO. Jerry
DR JAMES
I have used this ploy in certain areas. Used Carrot and two other ingredients (secret) so dont ask, it works all the time. No its NOT against the law to do so neither.
Highlander
One thing we've no shortage of is rabbits and knowing where to find them isn't a problem either. Deciding where to go each night is! Feeding them when they're eating farmers out of house and home does seem somewhat to miss the point.
casts_by_fly
I should think that attracting them would be against the general license. The GL sys that you are killing them for pest control because they are eating your crops. While I agree that you are 'luring' them away from the crops to put them in specific areas and you could even make a safety case for doing so, they are still there because you put food out. Thus if you stop feeding them they might not be there. This came up a few weeks ago about baiting pigeons and the consensus was that it is against the general license. I don't see why rabbits should be any different. Thanks Rick
al4x
so how long have rabbits been on the general license :yp:
Baldrick
It's not illegal to feed rabbits, but any occupier of agricultural land has an obligation under the Pest Act 1954 to control rabbits as a pest species.
