Dont pack in so quick mate we all suffered at one time or another,

get to a clay club and ask to try different guns or an auto youll

find something that doesnt torture you to death, ask your dad

if he will consider buying a cheap auto ,they have very little recoil,

or try some 24gram light loads, keep at it and youll get there

eventually. :good::good:

Noticed by your listing you own a hatsan auto allready, get some 24 gram

loads for this and stick with it ,mount the gun where its comfortable for you,

until you stop getting smacked forget about hitting anything, just practice the

mount to find out when it catches and adjust yourself, dont let too many people

confuse you.Once you can shoot the thing without getting hurt then its time to

start hitting them, itll come to you so keep trying. :good:

I'd been shooting for years and picked up a £100 baikal and had this exact problem, a bruised cheek bone is VERY painful. It is probably because the gun does not fit you. In my case I compared it to other guns I use and worked out the stock was too short, I put a couple of spacers on it and now it's perfect. I note you have three guns are they all the same length?

Are you the same height as your Dad, if not it is little surprise that the gun does not fit you!! Get this sorted ASAP because you might start flinching.

Don't give up! It would be a real shame to lose a hobby that you enjoy for no good reason. Get a gun that fits you, and get lessons to make sure you're mounting properly. 24g cartridges are a great idea (Gamebore Super XLR are very easy on the shoulder). I'd be amazed if the problem persists after this.

my dad is a bit taller than me, im 5'8 hes about 5'10. on my hatsan its a nice gun im just not sure how to see whetaher or not it fits me.

A gun fitter once told me put the gun up to your shoulder and assume the firing position

then keeping hold where you grip it to fire it see if you can move the butt from your shoulder and

into the crease of your arm (elbow)when you hold your arm at 90 degrees,if you cant get it in without moving the grip

the stocks too long if you can but theres loads of space between your butt pad and folded arm

its too short,if it fits theres a reasonable chance the stocks ok if not you need a gunfit.

mhm dads gnna take me to gunsmith and get a custom stock for me will this help?

If you explain to him your problem youll get all the advice a coach can give

and someone who knows what hes talking about and how to sort it, he may

just reccomend a standard stock.Make sure you talk to the gunsmith not a

salesman they can all sell guns but so can I,Wouldnt have a clue how to fit

it though, :good:

I got battered for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Then it clicks and you start holding the gun properly (in the chest/shoulder "pocket" and not under the arm) and you get your face down on the stock (not off it so that when the gun fires it jumps and wallops you).

Stick with it and don't be a nancy boy.

a custom stock will cost an arm and a leg maybe both.....

do what everyone sugests and take a lesson....

the first thing after all the safety blurb that the coach will do is make sure the gun fits you.....

as the song goes ..............."DONT GIVE UP".....

you will get the hang of it sooner or later. look at it this way, when a top bird asks you what sports you do, nothing will impress more than... (in a sussex voice) "yes me darling, i frequent all the top skeet grounds with my weapon, would you like to join me sometime".

itrs like anything mate, just takes time and practice. doctors are not surgeons over night you know :D
