malkiserow
looking in sporting shooter there is a test with pigeon decoys sillosocks came top do people on here think this is the best decoys on the market a simple yes or no will do. simple answer - NO longer answer - They are good and have many advantages. If you are on one of those days where moving is the thing to do then I take 6 in a pocket, wear camo, take some string to improvise a bit of cover in a hedge........then they are superb. For normal hide shooting i use silly jackets on shells and springy stick. I think a simple answer doesn't give you the picture you are seeking. Hope this helps

Cosd
The best decoys are the ones that work on the day. I don't know how they did this test, but in my eyes you cannot do an exact comparison unless the test is identical. It's impossible to do an identical test in pigeon shooting because there are so many variables. I use plastic decoys which are supposed to be bad in bright sunshine because they can glisten. Not so long ago I sat there most the day when it was overcast and couldn't pull anything in, the sun came out, I could see my deeks were glistening as they moved about on the wobbly sticks, and though they weren't about in big numbers, for about half an hour everything that flew past decoyed perfectly. If it were an exact science we'd get borred. My view (and I'm not too experienced) is that what works one day may not work the next. All that said, I do want to get some silosocks, because it's another toy

rlewis
i use to use plastics but now sillo socks because the have a speacial uv light and the pigeons are attracked to them and at the end of the day you get thousands of bugs on them and i have had some good bags over them 200-400. they also easy to carry (in my pocket)

charlie 1
the best decoys real ones bung some in the freezer take them out nite before job done Agreed As said above real dead birds will knock the spots off anything as it is a real pigeon. nothing can argue with that. i don't bother wasting my money on decoys any more you are far better off (especially in your wallet) to just use dead birds. how ever if you want to spend money buy some craddles to put the dead birds in that is your best bet. i also fcound when i used deoys i would lose them in things like winter rape or laid wheat. whereas it doesn't matter if you lose a dead bird as it hasn't costed you anything. i have a big chest freezer in my shed so i don't get people throwing them away also as they don't want to touch them lol. charlie
