Evil Elvis
Ive had mine a year now and have several farms that i can shoot on that are not cleared, would it be easier to get them cleared or to ask for an open ticket? Wadyareckon?
Dave-G
Different force areas have their own ideas about this - probably down to the "shooting friendliness" of someone near the top of the policy decision chain. Leicester, apparently, will not open one till three years have passed without very special reasons - and one of the FEO's has made it crystal clear that "probationary" shooters must not keep asking for land clearances as their department is too busy to keep doing that. My brother got his open after two years - his certificate is issued by Devon and Cornwall force. ATB with yours - well worth a phone call at least, and please let us know the outcome. AndyCM
I wrote in after 1 year (plenty of 17 22 & 243 use) after taking advice from BASC. Invites were coming in often with one-off or short term jobs and the closed ticket was a real issue. opened up with minimal discussion Good Luck AndyCM
Devon Fox
I would send them a letter now, my pal asked this question to ouf fao (D&C) when applying for his ticket, she said 1 year was standard around these parts.
pavman
I was told 3 years by Suffolk, However to get mentor status lifted I have undertaken Rifle Training http://www.riflecraft.co.uk/ which should also help get an open ticket a lot quicker, I also keep an XL spread sheet for the farmer to show what a good job I am doing for him, lists all visits and vermin shot so relates to experience as well,,,,I guess it all helps
bob300w
Simply phone Chelmsford and ask for your ticket to be made open, Essex HQ are very understanding in cases such as this, explain that you now have a number of farms since your original application. Usually they will ask you to send in your FAC with a list of the farms, and return it as open. I have known people get their tickets open after three months, there is no set time limit. I have also known tickets to be open on the initial grant if they had a number of farms.
