V8landy
Hi I have done a lot of searching on the site for insurance and the options of BASC or CA. It looks swings and round abouts. Any new advance on BASC or CA. The fee is not realy the issue for me, but an insurance (membership) that is focused on shotgun rough/game shooting. I know that they all basiclay offer the same in therms of PL and PA, but do they offer other services that are better? Thanks

webber
There has probably been more posts on this subject than any other on PW. Try a search you'll see what I mean For me, its BASC, not the cheapest, but the best option for shooters in my opinion. webber
Harnser
As webber says , not only are you getting good insurance you are also supporting the best shooting organisation in the u.k. Harnser .
Bazooka Joe
What more do they offer than the NGO? And do you have to be in scotland to get this? No you don't have to live in Scotland to join, Here's a quote out of an email I received from them, When I set up the insurance, I made sure it covered everything I could think of, because I shoot, fish, fly falcons, work dogs and ferrets, the lot. As a result, almost anything our members do is covered. Unlike the NGO, Not wanting to open a wound on the Insurance debate, as said it's being done to the death. BJ. V8landy
I was in the process of joining BASC as a joint member with my Partner (Girlfriend- Linving together) but in the drop down box it gives no mention to this type of partner! Does this mean we will both have do single membership?
Tam
I have a joint membership in the same situation as yourself - just make it clear what you require S.A.C.S also does a joint membership

dustyfox
SGA anyone?? Not sure if you have to be in Scotland. Im with SGA at the moment but going to go with SACs as well next year. You can support two different organisations with the amount of money you pay for BASC. Withs SACs you get legal cover which I dont think BASC provides. Isnt it right for like BASC only £6 goes towards your insuance?
Imperfection
I went with Countryside Alliance.

No, its not right. Its more like £10, which is similar to the other organisations, who offer similar cover. The rest of the subscription fee is to cover membership of the respective organisation. Its a known fact that the BASC firearms department employs more staff than some of the other mentioned organisations do in their entirety. Dont expect a Jaguar at a Lada price. I feel that you do get far more bang for your buck out of BASC, but you do need to spend more. I must have written reams on this subject over the years, my end analysis is that no one does what BASC does for shooters as good as BASC do it; albeit at a price. webber

V8landy
[ Withs SACs you get legal cover which I dont think BASC provides. Throught my research of ALL the insurers, I can clearly see that SACS includes legal cover, but I see nothing with BASC. Can anyone clarify what I am missing? If they do offer it they do not show it well.

If you go to court BASC wont pay for your court hearings etc. PM winchester on here he joined SACS because BASC wouldnt pay up. df
paulos
As webber has said, BASC offer far more than the others. If you think that 250 game cartridges now set you back about £50-60, what is the issue with paying similar for a whole years cover and access to services which surpass all the competition? V8landy
MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE! But as Dustfx has just explained BASC does not include legal cover only advice, SACS includes £100,000 legal cover and advice. Advice will not pay court fees! Target-Squab
V8Landy - I see your problem, on the first page it offers: Husband and Wife / Partner £77 but the next page does not have the option for partner. Just give the membership team a call tomorrow and they will soon sort it out - I have never found an organisation as helpful as BASC.
