1 of the farmers on the shoot has a good workshop and plenty of metal and old gates lying around,so talked him into helping us make a highseat(he enjoys foxing with us so wasn,t hard)

Started with an old ladder(top half) then added the frame for the seat from some box section, the de-luxe seat is from an old weight training bench..

Then we made the rail from a bar off an old gate..

Added an old ammo box to house a battery if any of us take a lamp, then made another ladder to get some height(just under 3.5mtrs)

We then took it up the fields after a lick of paint and some foam were added..

Of course i had to have a sit in it just to see :)

Was due to try it out last night, but the rain put pay to that :hmm:

It overlooks 1 of our pheasant pens, but will double up for stalking as there are 1 or 2 Roe about :hmm:

We are thinking of knocking a few more up as we have a few good spots available.

From the pics that looks like one professionally made seat, if a little over engineered. You sure it was made from farmyard scrap? AND did you remember to drill plenty of holes in the ammo box? :good:

Yep,plenty of holes in the underside and it,s only "over engineered" because my shooting bud is "overweight" Gonna get it now hee hee!

Cheers for the positive feedback fellas,i,m open to any improvement ideas you may have as it looks like we,re going to build another 1 or 2 :good:

How about a second rail bit more security if you fall asleep and maybe double up as a second resting point for you stock

You did say you where moving mate :good: might have to move a bit further now :good:

Your a cheeky wee monkey mr Galway :)

It,s in for refurbishment at the moment..going to raise the rail slightly as the field in front rises away from you.

The seat is great,it,s very comfortable and really holds the heat in.

Bottom of the ladder has a rung welded onto the back to stop it sinking and is braced and welded where the 2 ladders meet.

Foot rests are an idea i,ll be looking at,as my knees where the only part of me that were cold when i had a few hours in it recently.

And we saved lots,as it was made entirely from what was around the farm,so only cost was a few grinding disks and what we used in electric and gas for the welder :good:
