Pigeon Bashing Today

As i had a day off work to look after my 7 year old Josh, I thought i would introduce him to pigeon shooting.

We arrived at the farm about 11.30, as drove on the field a good sized flock took to the air

So we parked up and watch things for a while to try and suss out any flight lines.

But none were to be seen so we set up on a hedge in the middle out the fields with the sun to our backs an waited......

For about 20 mins nothing happened, a good few birds driftng about but not in range.

At last a rook went right over the top of us probably 40 yards up BANG .... missed and a most disgusted look from Josh!!!!!

We wait a little longer until a pair of pigeons come in low from our left circle around the back of the pattern and just as they flair to land i pull a beed on the front one and BANG it folds in the air so i find the second bird and just as i'm about to pull the trigger again it folds and falls to the ground!!!

I must have pricked it with my first shot.

Two for one shot :good:

I sent josh out to get them.

Things go quiet again but at least i can put the rotary out now i have some birds for it.

Not much really happens for a while birds come into the rotary but wont comitte....

So i start to try for the crossers and miss badly until a high bird comes down spinning like a Messerschmitt and hits with an allmighty thump.

Again it goes quiet for about 30 mins this time.

Until a nice left to right low bird comes down to the pattern and i take it cleanly.

Then we pack up and head home.

The end tally was 4

Not exactly a red letter day but we both throughly enjoyed ourselves.
