Dunkield
Its not so much the toaster as it is the bread you put in it. We make our own bread The only problem is Panasonic bread machines make bread that is at times <slightly> too wide for the Dualit. Maybe a new thread is required for that one
Pedro
Folks, after all that, I'm thoroughly ashamed, annoyed and down right peeved, to discover that Mrs P. has gone out and spent £7.99 on a blinking Tesco cheapy job I've just tried it and it leaves the top 15% of the piece of toast uncooked - what bleedin good is that! I showed her the Dualit models and she scoffed at the price. It seems a bit of sabotage might be called for P. When I make them (the master baker[insert joke here] ) they are huge in height anyway When mrs staurtp makes them they are shall we say 'challenged' And yes, they don't last very long in house about 2-3 days max. MM
What are you lot like. Its just the toaster. you put bread in and five minutes later its toasted. Sometimes its like being the member of the WI in here. Its not so much the toaster as it is the bread you put in it. xxxxSuzy

Cosd
Wow, I can't beleive this thread on toasters has had more replies than the majority of shooting topics We will be fitting our new kitchen soon, and knowing my missus she'll want a new toaster because the colour of ours won't go with the rest of the new things she'll want I didn't realise theres a market for secondhand toasters, but this thread has proved there is. A red and stainless 4 slot Dualit probably up for sale soon.......

Mungler
Ok, I am going for one of these in the sales. I want a 4 slice jobby with the toasted sandwich cage. Now, using the vast skill and knowledge of the PW membership, I ask the question "where is the cheapest place to buy?" (Obviously I am looking for a legit store with a warranty; and if not, mega cheap and knocked off will also do nicely).
MM
some of the bigger stores like currys and dixons should stock them with about 20% off.

Mungler
okay, breathing life into this old thread for a price check on a dualit as our toaster of 11 years has now gone pop
