labrador
if you were a full time gamekeeper and wanted a rifle that is built to last what would you pick? any pics of tikka/sako stalking/foxing setups?
steve b
I think you will get more votes for the tikka as they are half the price. As a keepers gun I would suggest you dont want 1250 worth of sako 85 to get knocked about. I personally think the 75 is better and a lot cheaper. For the purposes stated a tikka with synthetic stock and a stainless barrel would be my choice. Steve b
Baldrick
I had a Sako 75. An elegant, refined rifle, but no more accurate than the Tikka T3s I have had. The Tikks certainly shrug off a lot of abuse. I'd be surprised if the 86 shot better than a T3 at half the price. Do bear in mind that Sako is prioritising the production of the new A7 for the Yank market, so you may struggle to get a Sako 85 or a Tikka T3 if it's in a rare spec. Cushat
You'll prob struggle to get a tikka full stop at the minute. There's little stock coming in through GMK, so what's on the dealers racks is about all that'll be available for a while. I was quoted April delivery for a .243 stainless/synth T3 lite. CharlieT
I have both a T3 and a 75, one or the other gets used most days throughout the year and therefore get some abuse. They are both accurate out of the box but for quality, feel good factor and pride of ownership the Sako wins hands down. If you fancy spending the extra the Sako has to be the one. dazza
I voted for Sako. Here's a pic of my foxing setup.
sean c
I have both and there both excellent. The tikka is probably a little more accurate but the sako is more tactile and a little bit better looking. It was well worth the 10 month wait for the sako though. Baldrick
is sako realy worth £600 more than a tikka Yes. The Sako is built up to a standard, the Tikka down to a price. I regret selling my 75, because it was a genuine delight to use.
Harnser
In my opinion both are tackle tart guns . Ruger m77 or remi 700 . will last a life time and shoot just as well . Harnser .
steve_b_wales
I use a Sako 75 (22-250) and two Tikka3 Lites ( 243 + 308 ) The Sako is a 'better built' rifle but both are very accurate. I bought the Sako a few years ago. Had I bought a Tikka first, then I don't think I would have spent the extra money for the Sako. Better to spend it on a scope.
