Nice looking rifle that...BUT...think my first will be a semi auto...asked for slots for bolt and lever action...the winter league in which i am going to be shooting in is semi auto ,standing,at 25 yards....so bi pod would have me chibbed oot !!..should have said that earlier...on another point my second referee is being interviewed on thursday...as she only stays 3 doors away from me i thought the FLO would have killed two birds with one stone and interviewed me after her !...but no phone calls as yet....hoping ticket comes through for xmas.....see how good santa can be ??

ok maybe ill give a bit more info on the 10/22. theres pics ofmine somewhere about here on the forum, ill send you one if you want. heres the shopping list for mine...

gun itself £245

slip on muzzle break (£15)

tapco 6 position adjustable stocks - got it shipped from the usa before they were available here (£90)

standard 10 round mags, 30 round banana mags (£20) and 50 round drum mag (£50)

upgraded trigger kit (£5), just a few washers, grease, springs, etc, to smooth the trigger pull

upgraded bolt handle (£10)

upgraded extractor and claw (£4)

also several different types of scope mounts, varied but normally in around £10ish

on top of that ive got scopes, lasers, range finders, bipods, tripods, torches, grips; you name iti probably have it (except night vision scopes, never stretched to that yet).

my 2 cents - the 10/22 is an "ok" gun straight out of the box, but the range of upgrades is simply staggering, and ranges from cheap as chips to something most of us could only dream about  10/22's, to me, aremoreof a project gun, in fact last night when i couldnt sleep i was tinkering with it all night....

cheers for that babby...found a site called rimfire magic...seem to have loads of bits and bobs for tuning...got a price today for 10/22 in laminate with target bull barrel for £380 shipped...just on the hunt for a scope now ..

PS How do you find the banana mag...dad had one but got pi$$ed of with it as it failed to feed the next round on many occasions, he chopped it in for a couple o 10 rounds instead

yep rimfire magic is good, but very pricey; all my stuff i bought off either cabela's, midway, brownells or ebay. the banana mags cost around £20 each from the local gun shop (main suppliers of10/22's in northern ireland apparantly), i found at the start the mags were **** and kept having jams, so i got to work filing down the top of the mags, now they feed like a dream, can empty them in under 7 seconds each, rapid fire! :(

hmmm as someone pointed out the laminate stock and bull barrel are some of the heaviest stuff you can get, as far as i know green mountain had introduced a target barrel that was the same size and weight as the standard barrel.also instead of the laminate stock have you seen some of the druganov ones? you might want to look into that to help your back :good:

Might do that cheers...have tried bro's laminate and bull barrel before i slipped the disk...(which will now be operated on and removed in the new year)...liked it very much...felt i could hold it steadier than my dads ruger delux in normal barrel...but as an update ..firearms inspector visited my second referee today...stays a stones threw away from me...saw him arrive...and 5 min later leave...10 mins later he phoned to come and see me next tuesday.!!! why not today grrr waisting petrol time wages etc etc...credit crunch by ****...will see how that goes...asked for 500 and keep 500 in ammo...since been told should have been 550 and 500...we live and learn i suppose.

well good luck anyway mate!

almost forgot to mention scopes. i have 2 at present, a tapco 3-9 magnification model off ebay, and a hawke illuminated model with fixed magnification of about 4 powerfrom a gun shop. the tapco cost £20, hawke cost £90. guess which one is a worthless piece of junk that sits on a shelf? yep, the hawke.

also had a massive scope i got off ebay, cost about £40 and came from china. cant remember the make but it had a full mil dot cross hair arrangement, red and green illuminated reticules (5 levels of brightness in each), front focus up to 300m and the magnification went from 6 to 24. it was a bit too heavy for a rimfire, but if youre looking a scope to print your name on a sheet of paper at 50 m you couldnt beat it (i got a sub 1" group at 100m once with my 10/22 with that scope). gave it to one of my friends a while back as i didnt need it, but thats my advice on scopes.

If you want accuracy and reliability its got to be the model 2 or 5 Bruno which look identical, mines a 1983 model and is superbly accurate and reliable, the Cz of today is nowhere near as good as for the modern ruger.

The saying is that the new how to make them in the old days and its right, but if you want accuracy it has to be a bolt action.
