GJUK
Hi, A quick question if I may on the difference. I assume fibre is biodegradable and the plastic type cartridges are not, so some shoots want you to use fibre rather than plastic and perhaps it’s good to use on any farm, while pigeon shooting? (I’m trying to work out what cartridge to buy for pigeon/rabbit shooting) Thanks, Jon
webber
The only time that I will shoot plastic wads is on clay grounds that allow them. I shoot fibre wads at all other times. webber
Newsportshooter
If your shooting on farmed land use fibre - its more respectful to the landowner. Albeit a little more expensive fibre is also a little more environmentally friendly in that it uses, as you have stated, a biodegradable fibre wad to force the toxic lead up your barrels.... I have noticed that my barrels are cleaner with fibre (may just be the change in cartridges though) I use Hull Sterling 32Gram 6s for Pigeon but they are also OK for rabbit. Anyone else sat at home with a beer in hand (oh what sad people we are.....)
maddog546
Your thoughts should be to respecting the landowners property, fibre wad all the way, theres nothing worse than finding bits of plastic all over the place. Should his stock pick it up you could be faced with a rather disgruntled farmer, respect the land and it will pay dividens in the end,one thought -you dont see ash trays on farm land so why litter it,take what you bring home with you. Gordon R
Before some clay grounds stipulated fibre wads only, plastic wad cartridges were dearer. The minute some extra way of extracting money from shooters presented itself - a miracle happened - fibre wads rose in price.
Greenhunter
I always use fiber for all the reasons already stated but I recall reading a mag article some years ago that fiber give better shot patterns anyway so that sealed it for me.(not that I believe everything I read) I also remember using some plastic wads which were bio-degradeable (expensive) they were broken down by sunlight. Haven't seen any for several years now so I guess they weren't popular

I only shoot fibre
