Highlander
Bit like an American turkey shoot. Personally I prefer the way we do things here in the UK, seems a more sporting way to carry on!

EvoCars
and by the looks of it, they seem to be displaying, like its breeding season, surly they shouldn't be shooting them??
new to the flock
Looks very similar to our spring turkey hunt, which yes does take place during the breeding season. It is one of 2 times in the year that you can count on a sustainable harvest for control purposes. The bird was shot cleanly....personnally I would have liked to see the shot a little higher to the head and neck......and the quarry treated with respect. To me a very successful hunt ending in a well harvested bird for the table. Oh and evocars do you not hunt deer during the rut and breeding seasons? Jinxy72, that bird was dead before it hit the ground. A large bird like that will flop around when head shot, but it is dead. You should of seen the emu I shot 2 days ago. EvoCars
Good point on the deer, I guess im just looking at it like shooting a game/wildfowl bird out of season. Edited January 9, 2009 by EvoCars

new to the flock
...sitting duck comes to mind Come over and try wild turkey hunting, you will change your mind. The bird can have you pegged to within 10 feet from upto a mile and a half away, can see you move your trigger finger upto 50 yards away, and is all round one of the hardest things you will ever hunt in your life.
