03luffmb
My friends mother is a butcher and i some times sell them rabbits and woodies but not much money for it. Your talking like £1 for a rabbit lol. Although i have seen them at the farmers market other day and they sold for £5.70 for two rabbits. monkeyjaimz
I get £1.50 per rabbit skinned & gutted at a local butchers, or I can get £1 each if lft intact at another butchers.
malkiserow
What is the legislation on this? Some butchers take whole birds and others will not touch anything unless from a licensed game dealer. A few years ago I sold rabbits skinned but now I understand processed game can only be sold by a dealer to the butchers.
mark_mjs93
found this out from whatching kill it cook it eat it lol but yh i heard them say if you sell your rabbits un proccessed (gutted but you leave the skin on lol) you can sell rabbits to a pub or resteraunt, i may be wrong it may be totally intact but im not sure, im sure they would be slightly more greatful for a gutted rabbit 1 because it reduces the risk of contamination by the guts. 2. means they dont have the sometimes messy job of gutting , but i have sold to a butcher before you dont get much say £1 a rabbit, but hey sell 30 bunnies and you got your self £30 nice one... hope that helps mark
malkiserow
some butchers will not have any fur or feather through the door... and they are worried about the EH inspector. So it must be prepared before then you need to be licenced.

Ferret Master
I think any meat manufacturer with the name Sweeney will raise a few eyebrows. FM
Guinea Fowl
We should all get together and start a pet food business...just a thought ! BTW where do the pet food companies get their rabbit meat? I work in the food industry. I don`t know about rabbit we only do chicken products, we have any thing from 1000kg to 4000kg of waist product a day. All the waist product that is not been contaminated goes to a pet food producer. Now when you buy chicken flavour pet food that don`t necessarily mean they put whole chickens in there. I am talking here about all the little bits and bobs that gets cut off including bits of guts and whatever that comes with the chicken, the trucks that pickup the waist also have dolavs full of pork and lamb. I am not exactly sure what goes on in a pet food factory but the way i understand it is that they grind all the *&$* up and add the other ingredients, it`s almost like the crab flavour sticks you buy in the supermarket, it don`t contain 100% crab its other ingredients stuffed with the flavour. So at the end of the day one rabbit will probably give you a whole 10kg bag of dog food.

amateur
My dog's tinned food (Rabbit & Heart in large print on the label), small print contents show 4% rabbit & 4% heart - ergo 92% mush. PW brand doggydins ought to be able to improve on that

PW doggydins(rabbit)(): 70% rabbit 20% veg 10% gravy... Now compare... Happy shooting Mark  B)
