scifiden
Did a sunday with Stokie & Stoke shooter over christmas. Great day, cracking ground. Cost 25p per clay as you get your own electronic clay counter so pay for what you shoot Don't forget to knock of the no birds when you come to pay

I bet you would of had a drink if it was my round you tight wad! You need to get a bunch of you together and pre plan when you are going to shoot and how many of you, contact a couple of grounds and see who is helpful and makes you feel welcome, pair away can vouch for this, Lowes Lane shooting ground made a bunch of us very welcome, gave us a reduced rate and fed us with one of the best breakfasts I have ever had at a shooting ground. Just had my trousers taken down and done dry for 31.66p a clay at Southdown. Wasn't even registered or anything.

Wasn't even registered or anything. Peter, You can take comfort in the fact that you were shooting "Proper" "Regulation" "Targets" though, that is where the rest of us mere mortals fade away. Surely having your pants pulled down is worth that feeling At the clubs that I shoot at it is £7 for 50, although they are oversized clays and they are stationary a lot of the time and they are set up by people with no imagination. After shooting a couple of 100 dolly droppers a month you do crave something else. Edited January 19, 2009 by MC
paulos
For £42 I would want Cheryl Cole following me round, holding my weapon!!!

Ian E
Been to cloudside today, first may I add that an enjoyable day out it was to ! all the staff were very friendly and warm, the location is great, the coffee is fresh (£1 a cup, Bacon Barms £3) and the club house is worth a visit in its self, log fire leather sofas.. £7.50 for 25 carts or £45 for 200 1 round was £8 = 32p a clay 4 rounds was £30.50p for no members. Iam very new to clay shooting less then 500 carts in and iam happy to admit iam a poor shot at best... Most of the stands they had set up, were not very challenging, and to be honest I've shot harder clays on lessons I've had.. Iam not slagging the place off just clearing up some info from this thread, yes i would go back.. Edited January 24, 2009 by Ian E
Andy W
Cloudside is a real nice ground but aimed more at the corporate end of the market, the clubhouse as you say is worth a visit and they do make you welcome but you pay for it, can be an expensive couple of hours. topshot
my local ground has just put up his prices to £8.25 per 25 i dont mind that but what realy takes the urine is that he buys them all in from latvia cheap. i have heard him say to people that has passed comment on the increase "well they cost me an extra one pence each so i will pass it on". i am in the steel fabrication game and to keep customers as well as win new ones you need to keep your prices at an acceptable level. the way steel has been going up and down over the last two years i would be quoting for the same job ten times over.set your prices at an acceptable level and absourbe the increase as much as you can. when and only when you need to put them up do it. rant over
Crow_Killer
I went to this ground on a shooting trip a few years ago and the birds were all da same either going away from you or going right to left crossers and there was no difference in the angle of the birds either.
