I'm new to this sport as i am only 16. :good:

My passion is for wildfowling but i enjoy pigeon shooting aswell.

I am looking to get a new semi - auto basically for wildfowling (geese and duck). I am interested in looking at a AL391 Urika Camouflage Advantage Wetlands - gauge 12 - Beretta.

Or... a Benelli!

Does anyone wildfowl who shoots wiv any of these guns??

If so have you had any problems? :good:

Could anyone advise me on any other good wildfowling gun??

:shifty:

welcome solwaywildfowler. my advice to you would be to go out and try some different semi autos and seel what fits you best. you should always try to buy the best that you can afford and look after it. if you do it will last a life time, and also hold its value should you come to sell it on.

there are many other makes to choose from such as browning, fabarm.....ect but if your budget can stretch to it then the bennelli and the berreta are realy niceif you are looking for a wildfowling gun then the benneli super black eagle 2 antd the beretta extrema 2 are two of the best specilist fowlng semi autos on the market today.

I have the Beretta xtrema 2 for fowling, will cycle any load, so its ideal for pigeon shooting and clay shooting also.

The kick-off stock is also a bonus as it will take any 'spiteful' recoil out of any heavy fowling loads you use.

The xtrema 2 also has an 'aquatech' coating which will help protect the gun from harsh foreshore weather.

I shot an extrma for first part of the season, it was good, but it shot left and low despite altering the bushes that came with the gun,

apparently a lot of beretta extremas shoot low left, a common problem,

i traded it in for a winchester sx3, it shoots at point of aim and is very reliable,

i shoot with a good wildfowling club and the gun gets propper wildfowling conditions, mud, sand, grit etc

its been 100% reliable, have a look at one before you decide on a beretta.

i bought one in duck blind cammo, thats very good for pigeon shooting and on the marsh

As I understand it, the problem of Beretta Xtrema`s shooting off point of aim relates only to early production models of the Mk.1 model, the plain "Xtrema" rather than "Xtrema 2".

The plain Xtrema, rather than the Xtrema2, was a dog of a gun which is now out of production. The problem arose because the screw in choke portion of the barrel was bored out of true.

The Xtrema 2 is clearly marked as such.

Before making a decision it might help to decide what non toxic shot you intend to use and how many shots you`re likely to fire.

If you intend to use steel, which is the cheapest, then a 3.5" inch gun may suit you best. Personally, I shoot a 3.5" Benelli SBE2 or a Benelli Suprenova pump, but the Beretta Xtrema2 is also an excellent choice.

If you intend to use one of the other "exotic" and very dense shot materials, which work very effectively in a 3" gun, then a good old Beretta Al391 Urika will do just fine, as will any of the 3" chambered Benellis.

Otherwise, and like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

I got the Extrema 2 for shooting the Solway, look on youtube and the reasons will become clear.

Salt water and metal do not go together well, Beretta have made a great gun that takes this in to account and protected all parts.

The recoil is also not noticable with 3.5" cartridges, other guns are as good but hard to find better for your area..

You won't go wrong with an sx3 mate. Cheaper than both beretta and Benelli and wont let you down. It will cycle 67mm carts up to 3 1/2 inch carts easily. It's got a tough coating on it (grey one) so won't be harmed by the marsh.. Mine hasn't. Easy to clean, easy to adjust to you for not as much money! I'd definitely look at it mate! looks ace too! :-)

Done berettas don't like.

I love my remmington 1187 bit heavier than the berettas I have had but I don't miss with it, if it suits and you can use it it does not matter if it's a escort or a beretta it's what suits .....happy shooting....... :)

I'd rather kill with a hatson than miss with a beretta.....

I like my SX3 had it a number of seasons hard wildfowling and its been totally reliable except for a few over long out of spec 3 1/2" Remington shells. Easy to adjust to fit, quick to service.

A note Wetlands cammo applied to guns lights up like a torch on moonflights, it don't bother the Yanks as they can only shoot in daylight. Far better off with duckblind or mossy oak etc all the dark colours even black as its generally cheaper, I have a buddy who shoots with a Berretta in wetlands and its like holding a light sabre some nights
