Dave66
Mikee, what fibreglass rod are you using, I have been playing about for ages with different diameters, but cant get it just right, how did you attach the rod to the deek body ? Thanks Dave
mikee
the rod is spring steel, 5mmØ and it is connected to the deek by poking it through the deek body and out of the hole in its back, the rod is wrapped in camo tape and that stops it from spinning round mikee

Cranfield
That looks like an effective piece of DIY, well done. I have moved the thread to Craft and DIY Section as it seems a more appropriate place for it.
Whitebridges
Top deek Mikee. There was a good wind on the filum. You did a top job balancing the spring in the rod with the weight of the "bird". How successsful is it in the field?

You did a top job balancing the spring in the rod with the weight of the "bird". How successsful is it in the field? thought it was bloody brilliant m8 im interested in how it pulls the pigeons in all so ? the wind on the day i filmed was 10-15mph, the steel rod is in two sections 5.5mmØ and 5mmØ i joined them with cable ties and adjusted lap until the correct balance then tack welded together, they pull the birds brilliant, i dont take the magnet when i go any more, i put 5 out this morning i'd made for a couple of mates just to try them out, i put them 15 feet in front of my car on the edge of a field, and sat in the car watching the local flight lines ready for tomorrow and birds were coming in with folded wings to within about 100ft and then flaring away at the car, i moved the car and shot 6 in about an hour with no hide or other coys. mikee
