stevethefish
Thinking of buying some ear defenders, the soft insertable ones look ok, has anyone got advice on them? I have constant buzzing ears from pigeon shooting so think it would be for the best. If anyone got any for sale PM details.
malkiserow
check out the electonic ones from Aldi at £15.50 ish... work very well but may be bulky. Amazing with powertools!
stevethefish
Yes thinking the electronic or muff type might be a bit bulky, they would probably put me off.
malkiserow
Yes thinking the electronic or muff type might be a bit bulky, they would probably put me off. I've been wearing mine over 2 days in a machineshop and with powertools... they are a real boost to safety as I can now hear stuff running at a volume I set rather than all the noise or nothing. I wish I had had them years ago.
stevethefish
I know what your saying, hearing is very important and we would be lost without it, thats why I am considering ear plugs before its too late.
Boomstick
I've been wearing mine over 2 days in a machineshop and with powertools... I wish I had had them years ago. You've got me excited now! I pick mine up from my old grandad in a week or so! You tried them with the guns yet?

You tried them with the guns yet? no, not yet, electronics wise they will be fine but we will just have to see if the comb bashes the defenders .... JohnGalway
Peltor SportTac, I wouldn't buy the Aldi ones, but that's just me.
Boomstick
no, not yet, electronics wise they will be fine but we will just have to see if the comb bashes the defenders .... Well I haven't even SEEN them in the flesh yet! Hopefully they will be ok, but i have some sonic II earplugs too anyway. At £15 you can't really go wrong - worth a try. Plus, always handy to have some defenders for spectators

I just took a gamble mate - everybody at my clay club has them. They can't be that **** Edited February 11, 2009 by Boomstick
JohnGalway
How much were they John? I can't remember off the top of my head exactly, Google them, they'll be on Ebay as well.
Fatcatsplat
Sonics are OK, but they go right in your lug 'oles and can be a bit uncomfortable after a while. If you've got anywhere near you flogging army surplus, you can pick up a pair of over the ear jobbies for a fiver - Comfy, warm and do the job with no fuss. lapwing
Peltor sport-tac. About £95 delivered I think. Earshot Communications were very helpful.
955i
I picked up some SonicII off ebay for a tenner delivered. Only used them once and read they can get uncomfortable but I had them in for a full day with no problem. And they work
stevethefish
Think I might buy some and try them, for a tenner its worth a try.
Boomstick
Think I might buy some and try them, for a tenner its worth a try. That was my logic and the aldi ones are similarly cheap!
soontjen
i bought some off e-bay electronic 19.99 light green .. they work very well block out any noise above 85 d b's .. brilliant for 20 pound ... better than 80 pound and they do the same job
stevethefish
Do you use them clay busting or pigeon shooting I find its easier when clay busting because you can take them off after a while. Pigeon shooting you need to be ready at all times.

Cranfield
I saw some of the Aldi digital ones on Wednesday and tried them out on clays for a while (I hate ear muff defenders). They worked very well, I was impressed, but they still felt bulky and cumbersome to me (in ear defenders every time).
