starlight32
What's your verdict over the above....... Anyone find the benelli's inertia system more uncomfortable to shoot than a conventional gas recoil semi auto? They definately kick you about a lot more that any other automatic. Ozzy Fudd
i dont think my benelli's that bad tbh, i would never have thought of this
tweedledee
i prefer gas piston, never have been a fan of benelli.
BlaserF3
I prefer gas action they are a lot softer to shoot . Here are a couple of articles on the subject http://www.chuckhawks.com/better_semi-auto_shotguns.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/shotgun_gas_actions.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/semiauto_shotguns.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/avoid_ou_shotguns.htm I found the last one interesting. Breastman
I've put over 500 cartridges through my Benelli M2 in one day and not even felt it. Conversely if i go over 200 cartirdges with my O/U i feel like i've had a right hook to the cheek! I've only a gas semi on 1 occasion (a winchester but i forget what model it was) and i couldn't feel any major difference. But then my M2 does have the Comfortec stock on and that helps a lot! I think only people who are very sensitive to recoil would need to worry about it, if in doubt, use a 20 bore! Mark
the great roberto
Got a benelli SBE2 and a Beretta Teknys Gold Sporting. Both great guns, and both sometimes fail to cycle 28g clay loads. Not surprising for the SBE2 though. The SBE2 is a great handling field gun.Always a great gum to fire, especially with 3.5 inch loads. A mate has beretta xtrema 2 which is also great, but does not handle so well, and is about a pound heaver. I always liken the Beretta as an Italian gun built in Germany whist the Benelli is Italian gun built in Italy
Guest topshot_2k
inertia is a better system in terms of cycling the next cartridge, gas piston is easier on the shoulder. Benellis are excellent guns
Peter De La Mare
I prefer gas action they are a lot softer to shoot . Must have been bitten by one when he was a child or something.
Tommo
I shoot a remmy Model 11 and Browing A5, Both are inertia operated - Model 11 was the origion s/a designed by browing on licence to remmy - have to say they cycle fine and both are a mechanical genius! but my god do you know it when you have put more than 50 carts through each in a day (30g 6's) as they both bruse like hell! (let alone a BB or heavier shot!) Next purchase is a Teknis or a Urika 2 thingy - haven't made my mind up yet (mainly for fowling) T
throdgrain
I'm sure they are both good guns, but personally I liked the Benelli, less cleaning, less jams, a better gun for me.
ziplex
Franchi Raptor shoots softer than the Benelli M2 I now shoot, but the Benelli is such a fine handling gun that I prefer it. When I tested my Raptor against a friends SBE I couldn't believe how much more felt recoil there was with the SBE, it felt quite severe ....I was shooting at a large earth mound on farm land at the time If you're using it as intended though, ie: on the foreshore or for pigeon I can't say the recoil feels a great deal different. The Benelli is a great semi, I had thought about a Beretta when looking to change but the Benelli comes up much nicer and is a lot slimmer. tazkb
Benelli all the way for me, I have tried many many different guns and owned many inc Berretta semi auto's etc and the only gun I have ever had that I just can't part with is My Benelli M2 there is nothing to criticise about it at all. I love it to bit's and i wouldn't swap it for anything
southernlad
Haven't tried a Benelli yet but I love my Browning Fusion Evolve. It fits so well it feels 'locked' to me when I shoulder it and the recoil is so soft it barely registers with 28gr loads (which it cycles flawlessly). Only downside for me is the gas system is a bit of a pig to clean. Other than that, superb. I shoot far better with it than I do with my Silver Pigeon and it's now my first choice for high volume shooting. I've put 250 through it in a morning and not a bruise in sight.
