shoot57
I'm noticing that a large number of rabbits in my area have mixy, i don't think i have ever seen the disease at this time of year before and i did notice that in aug and sept last year there were very few diseased rabbits around, those seem to be the months that i usually see them in my area./...whats the situation in other areas? libs
before christmas it wipedthe population at work out.from seeing 50+ a day in 60acres to suddenly seeing non for about 2 months was very odd. Saw 2 very young yesterday so I cam guessing it has passed through here now? (north west london)

Baldrick
We only have it in specific areas: most of the land I shoot over is myxy-free.

realtreedave
havnt seen any this year on my ground in staffordshire.last year we had it in patches[seems to only affect the warrens where the rabbits avoid going out in rain]whereas the previous year it virtualy stoped me shooting rabbits.hopefully the rabbits will evolve to be resistant as ive shot several that apear to have caught the disease and recovered

triscrx
about 10% of the bunnies I was slotting in Cornwall had it a few months ago, havent seen one with Mixy for a while now though. Horrible disease dont wish it on any animal. Does anyone know the history of Mixy? It was introduced purely to keep Rabbit numbers down wasn't it?! Bleeh
about 10% of the bunnies I was slotting in Cornwall had it a few months ago, havent seen one with Mixy for a while now though. Horrible disease dont wish it on any animal. Does anyone know the history of Mixy? It was introduced purely to keep Rabbit numbers down wasn't it?! It was introduced to Austrilia, where it did massive damage. (killed off 500mil of 600 mil within a couple of years) But was then illegaly introduced to france in the 1950's, where it spread throughout the rest of Europe. The virus itself is a flu/cold like virus that brazilian rabbits get, but when introduced to european rabbits, you get the myxi effects.
