thanks for the replies had a cheap scope on mine which keeps loosing zero so need to get one... i was thinking of a Nikon monarch x tatical or the bushnell 4200 ... its not that i am loaded but i want reliability and i am not sure of the lower priced scopes so thats why i am asking.

The way i see it is that we pay for optical quality but i know there are some lower priced scopes that are good as well so i appreciate any further advise on the matter...and also £200 is better than £600 specially in this finacial climate but i am willing to spend that much as i take my shooting seriously and hate being let down by infirior **** like the one i bought last year.

As I said i want a scope that hold zero and if you have field tested the above scopes and they do the job and it saves me some cash... well thats great

You won't be disappointed with a 4200, they have glass that compares to much pricier scopes, Its surprising you have lost zero on an HMR with any scope though.

I like side focus so have down graded my hunting scopes to ags/leapers 3-12x swats which come at a credit crunch busting £101 posted although a lot of my reasoning is to do with there performance with night vision add-on systems.

I Will be selling a tidy 6-24x 4200 in the next week as its just not being used now I have stopped target shooting, if you want to see one and aren't too deep in Suffolk give me a shout.

i have a tasco it came with the rifle as a package and does the job but will be after something better at the gamefair. Hawkes are good value.

i've just got a Nikon Monarch and it's a beauty, really good quality for the money (and Uttings are doing them on special offer at the mo).

I've currently got a Hawke Niteeye on my .17 which is a pretty good scope, but i wouldn't buy another one i don't think, i actually prefer the Walther scopes i have.

 I took a gamble on a richter optics, you get a lot of scope for the money mines a 6-24x50, about £85.I fitted one on my hmr and zeroed it with an rfd mate of mine who was sceptical for the money but he was well impressed, zeroed on the nose in 6 shots and has never lost its zero........and Ive never cleaned it, had 2-300 rounds through it so far....................

Well i have made my decision <_<:sly: DRUM ROLL :hmm: :hmm: I have ordered a Nikko Sterling Platinum Nighteater 6-24x56 iluminated mildot retidle.

The reason for the choice is that Nikon leupold Schmidt and bender are great scopes but bloody expensive and to put on on a CZ 452 .17 HMR seemed to me to be a little of what i would call over kill. so i did my reseach and decided on the the Nikko Under £200 delivered from a uk company.

This choice was met after speaking to various owners who have field tested the nighteater and say that its a great bit of kit for the money it is reliable hold zero and has push and pull turrets that lock.

So Shuan thanks for the insperation and thanks to all who have responded to this thread i wish you all well and happy shooting.

P.S Whilst researching this i found out that Simmons have been bought by Bushnell. I thought that you may like to know this bit of information.

Out of all the scopes i have owened i think Simmons made great scope and were my favorite I hope that Bushnell do not relax on the quality of the these scopes because the only reason i did not buy a Simmons was that they did not make one with tacticle turrets. :good: Cheers again
