the_commoner
just thought a quick thread on here regarding crops people are shooting over, best time of day etc might be worthwhile, see if there are any patterns across the uk i'll start (by the way some of this is hearsay from people at the local gunshop etc, i am no pigeon shooter i am just starting out) slow generally birds are not in flocks yet hard to decoy

shottyscotty
there are a few about in small groups but not decoying that well and mainly on the sowings. better early morning and late afternoon. crows are coming in like kamakazi pilots. the pigeons around me are all over the place so getting under them is difficult and i dont have a magnet or rotary so im struggling. wattsowatts
Seems all very quiet at the moment. The OSR on all my permissions is now up and away and the brids seem to be staying away from it, and none of my permissions have any late spring drillings. I had hoped that the brids would have moved onto the spring beans which are now at least 2 to 3 inches through, but no such luck. Basically it's all gone very quiet, with the brids seemingly moved elsewhere, just need to a patience and keep my fingers crossed that they will be back soon? miroku man
Been over rape till 2- 3 weeks ago, now on grass/clover or beans and sp barley sowings. Not much about tho, most are in the trees eating buds and nesting, soon I'm moving on to whole crop peas/ mix stuff / clover and maize if the weather is right for them. I'm quite new to shooting pigeons, so trying to hone my skills. Good shooting to you.
barbel-brad
Hi guys i only have OSR to shoot over and the birds are just going straight over it wont come near Magnet or floaters or any type of decoy. The odd one i am getting has a crop full of buds / peas / beans / clover and all manner of pulses but they are not on the OSR in my area at all. Best times are early morning and late afternoon through to evening it is very very slow however i am getting a few crows throught the day. MerseaDavid
Most of the pigeons I have been shooting have been going into the woods eating buds, but they started to hit the peas over the past couple of days. They are in small groups of 5's and 6's and tend to come in from around 12pm onwards. Not many are on the rape at the moment because most of it is too high for them to get into. Some birds are on old potato fields and some late drillings.

Cranfield
I am still moving round the pea fields getting a few birds here and there, at least the farmers can see I am about. Its a long time since I have known it to be this quiet on the peas. As has been said, the birds are there, but they are on clover, new tree buds (especially hawthorn) and still dropping into any bald or green areas in the rape.
