SPARKIE
my .17 never rips them open like that.
dpile1
my .17 never rips them open like that. Sometimes mine does but sometimes they seem to have no injuries at all. Seems to be that if the round hits something hard like solid bone, then there's a hellava lot of damage. Hit soft flesh - hardly any external signs..... bullet boy
I`ll stick with my .22 for rabbits!
badshot
Little bolter like that and mine opens 'em up every time wherever they're hit. Get a bit bigger and further away then they don't open up quite the same just a bit of mush inside though. :(
stevethevanman
Is that a CZ 452 or 453? I belive its the 452 varmint 17HMR :( ...TBH there really is no differance between 452 and 453 But for sure, the HMR does drop them ...I delibaerately aimed for the shoulder and it does loom like I hit a bone. dpile1
I belive its the 452 varmint 17HMR :( ...TBH there really is no differance between 452 and 453 I've got the 453, it's got a selectable set trigger which the 452 doesn't have. So much better when shooting off a gate or a post - no heavy trigger to pull.
stevethevanman
By any chance is that a Nikko Sterling Nigheater scope and if so what's your opinion on it? excellent actually wouldnt put it on any thing than 22 hornet as, there not really built for the recoil, but you can...Its really clear, after a feud with Nikko Sterling they sent me this new nighteater range scope with flip up scope covers, its excellent, at 150-200yd shots, you really want a slightly higher mag, but I really wish I got the 50mm objective lens one, as this one has about 2mm clearance before it touches ...but it still bullet on bullets so im happy ...I have the milldot reticule but I wont need that since its so flat :( Steve Edited May 3, 2009 by stevethevanman

Unless you buy a Jewel trigger, in which the 453's selectible trigger goes out the window ....but ive had the trigger tuned by a gunsmith, and polished and it is really smooth now, the trigger pull has also been brought right down :( , before I will admit it was a bit heavy. Highlander
.17HMR the best little varmint rifle on the market today. At 75? yards you should be able to head shot them and then there's no meat damage just dead meat!
