realtreedave
ive got a rhino varmint 6-24x40 on mine and for me this is perfect forlong range sniping on bunnies, and if you drop it to 6x its perfect for snap shooting at closer ranges or lamping
Dead-Eyed Duck
I've got a 4-12 x 50, and I really don't need any extra mag than this. Shot a couple of hundred rabbits with my hmr last year; mostly head shot at 100 yards or so. The only advice that I would give is to buy the best that you can afford. The best rabbiting time is dusk, and when you are peering through a scope trying to make out the rabbits head, you may wish that you had bought a better one. You do get what you pay for, and the more you pay, the better the light gathering qualities when the light is fading. Don
Billy.
I really can't remember what I've got, but it's about 6-12x50. If you want to risk it, try the 'sweet 17' which is specifically designed for the 17 and the mildots are spaced so that each 100 yards is correct for the holdover. MC
I have a Hawke Pro stalk on mine, plenty good enough for the ranges you will shoot with a .17 I think it is a 4 - 14 x 50 and I rarely use more than 10x mag

Not the best scope at all for what you pay for it. I had problems with mine from the very start with it not zero'ing in at all. Ended up having it replaced and this one works okay although the rubber reticule grips on the scope slip. I wouldn't buy another.
anschutz.17hmr
mine wears a leupold vx111 4.5-14x50ir bit pricey but good quality and if you can,t see it you can,t shoot it,so buy the best you can and you only need buy once
Poacher
i've got the burris 6.5-20 its pretty decent. don't bother with the BSA sweet 17 ! its sweet for f-all your better off looking through an empty bog roll tube... If you've not got alot to spend put it towards a good quality 3-9 magnification or a fixed 6x.
