teal27
Does anyone use a 10g s/s for wildfowling as im thinking of getting one? And where you can buy 10g cartridges? thanks
MC
I don't use one as I use a 3.5" chambered semi auto for wildfowling, some people on here swear by them. I know Pavman has one and so does Henry D IIRC. John Forsey in Kent sells 10G cartridges but they are expensive. most people tend to reload but you need the cases and equipment to be able to do that. Vince Green
My mate had a 10g single barrel. It is economically viable to reload 10g cartridges, I would imagine a gunshop in Norfolk near the wash would keep them but they are pricy. Kranks probably list them. mikee
any type of 10g thats not a s/a will knock the **** out of you, ive used s/s and o/u and believe me after a few shots it starts to get uncomfortable, once shot a round of skeet with a 10 and 2 1/4oz #5 win xx mag loads through a lincoln greylag.... never again, with new non tox high velocity steel and hevi shot loads a s/a is the way to go, home loading is the way to get the best out of a 10, cip reg shells are ****, ive got a home load with 42g of steel T at 1650fps, you will never get that type of performance with factory shells. dont let anyone tell you a 3.5" 12b is as good, ive got both and in comparison the 12b is pants mikee Edited June 30, 2009 by mikee

rjimmer
I've got some GuageMates in mine so that I can use 12 bore steel loads. Not used up all the 10 bore cartridges yet though. I don't like the idea of forciing large volumes of steel shot through barrels that were meant for smaller volumes of lead.

starlight32
Thanks for the replies, ive seen a zabala 10g s/s im thinking of getting, its in excellent condition and up for £250 as im very curious to see the performance, and may be after some modifications make a good high goose gun, im sure it will hurt but as they say "no pain no game"! thanks again I have a AYA matador 10 I am selling, has spare stock together can give plenty of cases, some factory loads, steel, hevi shot & ITM and also have a spare reloading machine. I am located about 10 miles from you. Choked at 1/2 & 1/2 for steel. Only gonna sell becuase I have an English 10. You buy a Zabala or a Kestral 10 and you will know you have it in your arms, in fact you will think you are handling a length of cast drain pipe......The Zabala'a are muzzle heavy. The AYA is still a SBS but they handle like a gun should do. pm me if you are interested.
