MC
Blimey Mung, With all these new rifles you keep buying LV must soon be buying a new car just to keep up.
monkeymagic1969
I have an A Bolt in .243 (Dura-touch model) - shot sub MOA straight out of the box with factory Winchester ballistic silver tips and now shoots 1/2" or less with reloads Light to carry for staking/foxing even with a PES T12 on the end
AndyCM
Hi Mungler, A mate has one in .243, and is happy with it as a foxing / stalking gun. The trigger came industrial and a spring (from the US at around $30) fixed that. Cheers AndyCM
monkeymagic1969
Hi ANDYCM have you got a website for the spring ?? i will agree that the trigger is pull is a little stiff

harv
you knobber mung i knew this would happen, you sell your tactical elite and cant find a replacement anywhere near as good as the steyr
Mungler
Steyr = too heavy What about the Ruger? Seems well priced
miffy
Me and Dougy have both got one, mine in .308 his in .30-06 Not tried mine with a scope on since i bought it as i got it for the pigs but it's a nice looking rifle. The trigger was very heavy but thats been sorted now, mine has a set trigger should i wish to use it Nice well built rifle but would not have been my first choice......or second as it has a figured walnut stock which is far too nice for a heavy handed oaf like me to take into the field. Lee what you got on that - was it open sights or red dot?
miffy
It was open sighted for the pigs but i've just bought new scope for the 6.5 so i have a spare 8x56 Swaro waiting to go on it as soon as i can get some mounts
Raja Clavata
Had a look at a .223 with grey / silver synthetic stock. Competitively priced but the "finish" on the plastic (if there is such a thing) seemed a bit shoddy. Presumably they come with a wood stock too then? The bolt also seemed a bit industrial but I was comparing to my Sako Quad rimmie, so not a like for like comparison really.
willcsmith
I have an A bolt in 22/250 with synthetic stock and stainless barrel .I am well happy with its performance as said the trigger is a little bit on the heavy side even when adjusted to its lightest . .Middway uk do the timmy trigger spring kit for about £25 .A well priced no frills rifle
swift4me
I have sold many, and shot a few, and second the comments about the trigger. I changed several springs and was amazed at the results. Brownells, (www.brownells.com), sells a two spring kit for it. One spring takes it to about 3.5 pounds and the other is lighter. It is a quick job to replace and no "metal to metal" work involved. Really crisped things up. Other than the triggers, I never saw or heard of one that just wouldn't shoot. The new X-bolt has a nicer trigger out of the box, and they changed to bolt feature which bothers some, but not me. Pete
swift4me
Just in case someone didn't know, the A-Bolt bolt only has 60 degree travel, which is nice, but you could only open the bolt if the gun was "off" safe. They've changed that now in the X-Bolt. Older Remington 700's were like that too. The A-Bolt synthetic stocks were not the finest, but they worked. I think it a great rifle for the $$. Mungler
X bolt has some good write ups and rifle of the year - mind you, a big player like Browning probably bought that award?
Traztaz
If its a new rifle for pig you are looking for why look further than a remmy 700?
