I'M THINKING OF BUYING A GUN FOR ROUGH/WILDFOWLING SHOOTING. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW HEAVY 26" ESCORT MAGNUMS ARE.

THANKS ANTHONY

I've got a 28inch Escort and I love it.

Reliable and because it is plastic it is very robust.

Thanks Poontang. Do you have one, what do you think?

Anthony

good gun for the money ... i initialy had one for fowling but changed because i didnt buy a 3.5" version and wanted bigger carts for fowling ..... never had a prob with mine .... but u can buy a mossberg 935 for virtually same money look here ..... 935 .... having owned both the mossberg is much better gun ( quality and shooting ) just the mossberg dont like small carts ( under 28g ) but for fowling ( as the mossberg has been made for ) it wont be a prob :look:

Thanks everyone for your help. I just need to see one and see how it feels. I know they're not the prettiest things (I feel that way about all SA's), but are made more for practicallity. I know several people who have them for rough shooting, and they know a LOT more than me!

Anyway thanks. It looks like I will get one.

compare the escort and the mossberg before u decide ...... ive had both and im a wildfowler .... the mossberg is the better option :look:

designed as a wildfowling gun with a overbored barrel ( same size as a 10 bore ) but still a 12 bore .... shoots really nice

Ive just aquired a 12g escort magnum after previously owning three of the more expensive brands of sa and honestly find the cheap and cheerfull escort a good shottie for little money with the added bonus of not worrying too much about scratching it in the field for what i paid for it.

I got one and really can't say a bad thing about it.

Just the issue of having to keep the button pressed in whilst loading cartridge 2 (and 3 if you're not at the range) into the bottom makes operating it a little bit arkward til you're used to it. But for under £400 new, can you really grumble??

same here

but for fowling the mossberg is under £400 at the min ... and is much better build quality ( having owned both ) ... saying that .. as soon as the stock has gone the mossberg will jump in price to nearly £ 600 again and then its a different story

Definately the marmite gun of pigeon watch . There is more written on this site about this gun than any other gun . I have never owned one and would think that they have got to be a value for money self loader . I would never be able to make up my mind to buy one because of the diverse comments about them from forum members . I think that they suffer from a quality control issue .

I'm 95% decided on ordering one for myself tommorow

Got a price of £325 from my local shooting ground, and tried a shop a few miles away who wanted £370

This is on a New LEFTHANDED Escort (as I'm a lefty as you've probably worked out)

If I don't like it .. it can go back up for sale at £280-300

Thanks Jinksy,

I appreciate what you are saying. The problem is I would like the gun to double up for walk around rough shooting. I know you are right about wildfowling, the Mossbergs do sound good. I've got to make a compromise. Thanks for the help- it has helped.

Does anyone know if camo model escorts are heavier than black synthetic models. I'm thinking about the walk about factor.

Harnser,

A gentlemen gunner such as yourself would never be able to own a hatsan escort.....We would have more chance of seeing you will a 'female' escort
