Sammy_D
Hey guys. I was out the other night "trying" to shoot some rabbits. I know its all about patience but as i shoot the rabbit and miss as usual they run into the bushes. Is there something that will lure them out quickly? Thanks Sammy D

Ferret Master
What gun are you using? Addressing why you are missing would be the best place to start. FM

BSA-airgunner
.22 bsa supersport. think the reason why im missing is lack of practice. in a nut shell dont ever atempt a live target until you are sure of a clean kill.......rabbbits are not for practice............set out a target just a 1 inch dot on plane paper 30 yrds and practice practice and then more practice when you can get a string of 5 in the zone your on line to be a great shot

Billy.
I have a slight feeling it's actually against the law to bait rabbits. Unless I'm getting mixed up :s I read something somewhere, but maybe I'm getting my wires crossed!
JamesLeic
I have a slight feeling it's actually against the law to bait rabbits. Unless I'm getting mixed up :s I read something somewhere, but maybe I'm getting my wires crossed! Just checked and according to the 1954 Pests Act i Qoute "Occupiers may use any legal method to control rabbits on their land, e.g. gassing, trapping, snaring, shooting, fencing etc." & secondly the Ground Game Act 1980 " an occupier the right to shoot rabbits on his/her land during the day and to authorise in writing one other person to do so. That person must be a member of the occupier’s household or staff, or be employed for reward." And just to cover our backs i would interpret reward as to include keeping the carcases which should complete the legal right if you are not the occupier so in short the occupier can do what they like so if they happen to bait it all well and good according to my interpretation anyway.... http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/Images/WM...2_tcm6-9968.pdf Edited July 21, 2009 by JamesLeic

Ferret Master
thank you bsa. I havent hit any rabbits so im not worried that i have wounded any. will try ur target method How do you know you haven't hit any? If you are missing EVERY time then surely you don't know where you are hitting? As has been previously said, don't even think about live quarry until you can put 5 shots through a hole the size of a 2p at the range you are shooting. FM Agreed remember air rifles arent very forgiveing your target is small and a follow up shot unlikely so make sure you know what your doing first (by that i mean can hit the vitals consistantly at your chosen range)
