palombier
Hi I take it this is a purely commercial set-up or is there a club behind it? Might have been interested in the walked up shooting but not at £26 a bird. regards P
Terry P
£50 a flight for wild birds seems a bit rich, plus awhy a bag limit when you've not paid for the ducks, and £120 for a day on the marsh when you might not even get a shot is mad,my club fees are only £85 for the season, but hey good luck to ya. MC
I downloaded the price list and got a blank page. To be honest £50 a flight is probably the going rate, but my club fees were £105 including BASC and for that I can shoot when I like. If you want a taster of true wildfowling though that isn't bad. al4x
the £26 a bird is if you go partridge or pheasant shooting otherwise its £50 for a morning flight or £120 all day. Looks not too bad compared to most forms of shooting. I'm guessing a bag limit is so you don't hammer their wildfowl population Edited August 3, 2009 by al4x
MC
What is the bag limit anyway? If it is 4-6 birds then that is fine, I doubt if there is many 'fowlers who get more than that in a flight. I know we all have the odd good day but in reality I rarely come off the marsh with more than 4. A flight pond is different.
al4x
for the one flight its 10 birds with a max of 2 geese, for the day its 20 with 3 geese,
MC
Then I do not see a problem with that at all. Wildfowling isn't like pigeon decoying.
Terry P
Still reckon the prices are steep, fed flight ponds are about that.Agree its a good way for a taster of the sport and 20 birds is plenty,I just have a problem with bag limits,I believe a limit tends to set a target and something to judge how successful a day you've had instead of just enjoying the flight and being happy with what you got.Perhaps I'm just odd .Must admit the marshes look nice if somewhat expensive

Markio
I realise specific locations might not be best divulged on a public forum but what part of Essex is the Marsh and Driven Day. EDIT: River Crouch, got it. Sorry. Edited August 3, 2009 by Markio
Crouch valley
Hi thanks for all your replies good or bad. I don't think £50 a flight is a bad price as we have put in suitable hides so you are not up to your neck in mud we also supply pickers up so if you don't have a dog you can still come. it is not totally commercial its just me and a friend who lease the marsh and thought we would get a bit of income back from it to help pay the lease as for bag limits I just don't want to see it over shot I think we have been fair there. A large wildfowling organisation recently offered a large sum of money a year for five years for it so its quite a good marsh. as for the walked up days it is £160 a gun and that includes a morning or evening flight we also supply some beaters so its a bit like a mini driven day walk one stand one for teams up to twelve individuals are welcome we just try to make up a team a small lunch is included in that price normally sausage rolls and cakes in the shoot lodge I can offer this as I am also the game keeper on a shoot near by. there is no bag limit on the walked up days a very good day for the price we can also tailor a day if you want we can drop the price a bit if you don't want a flight. al4x
don't worry about some of the replies it all sounds like a good offer and a good introduction to wildfowling at an affordable price.
Crouch valley
don't worry about some of the replies it all sounds like a good offer and a good introduction to wildfowling at an affordable price. Thanks Al4x I try real hard to get new people into shooting I believe its a real fair price for what we offer and the facility's we offer. after all some people charge £50- 150 for a days pigeon shooting and they are vermin. I in fact bought a days pigeon shooting last year it cost £130 for a day but I shot 200 pigeons so I thought it very reasonable for the amount of shooting I had. after all you can pay silly amounts for a driven day and if your luck is not in and you draw a bum peg you are paying for some one else's shooting. As for our walk up days they are great fun its best if there is a team but its like a mini driven day walk one stand one lunch is included a beer and as much tea and coffee as you want plus a duck flight all for £160 we also run introductory nights lamping but we don't advertise this yet as we have quite a few people who want to do this already and there is only so many nights you can get out. Raja Clavata
Yes yes yes yes yes yes! For some reason I thought all bets were off on this. Crouch Valley, a good friend of mine lives by the entrance to the reserve at North Fambridge. If you are local to that area then you'll most likely know him. At least four of us are well up for this.
