My O/U again a cheapy a Mirrochi has failed on me twice and no longer ejects on the bottom barrel. I've had a few mis fires (no fires) with it. The trigger mechanism totally failing on me, mid clay lesson. Embarassing to say the least. My Datsun hasn't (as yet) let me down. I am intrigued to hear of people seeing first had a gun explode on them or mate they were with. None of this my mate saw this. Not interested. I want "I saw this......." and how long ago. Skoda used to be awful cars but these days...... a totally different beast. By the sounds of it the first Escorts may have been a little dubious..... TBH - Im not a fan of any semi auto, my Brother in Law had a Escort and I was always a little nervious around it. Well I also call my Baikal a Bagel, anyway enough of that, I wonder if Jim who started the post might be able to help. I love the gun, it looks good, gets commented on.....usually whats that and when used with a full choke and 32g rounds its a killer, I love it. BUT - its does sometimes jam - i think it needs plenty of oiling, I have since had it serviced and it worked a treat again, but its still an occasional problem, if she becomes dry - after a heavy night, the stock comes loose, so it can be twisted slightly, as if its shakened itself to bits.... - finally when i fire high shots sometimes, or like tonight in a wind, i get a bit of blow back in the face of hot discharge when the round ejects, not sure if this is normal for a semi auto or a hatsun issue It is not faultless, but it is likeable. I am a fan, perhaps misguided but still a fan p.s I also drive a Suzuki Jimny with air con, leather, all the trimmings, I have named her IJN Yamato after the the monster battleship Japan had in 1940s, she sunk in 1945 p.s.s I'll be at Stow *** Quy this weekend, but the Jimny and Hatty Hatsun will be staying at home Admiral Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So it IS you down my garden dressed as a cat. Be careful now, the trap is set and the sack with bricks is waiting for that trip down the river. I do in fact own two Escorts, one a Hatsan and one a Ford. Both Ghia's and both black. Admiral Von Tripitz, love the Forum name and I had an uncle who served and died in a ship with a very similar name. I shoot my Datsun dry. Once stripped I clean it with fine wire wool to get the soot off, then wipe it with a cloth and re assemble. I found that oil makes the soot sticky as it accumulates, (I rarely clean it) causing the moving parts to slow down and stick. Probably the reason why you see the guy tap it on the ground to cycle the next round. This is not exclusive to Datsuns. A friend has a Browning semi and also shoots it dry due to the same problem. He rarely cleans his either. A nyloc nut on that stock is the answer as previously mentioned on this thread. The blow back is normal. This discharge in the face was the first thing I noticed with the semi. OK so it rarely happens but I do occasionally wear glasses when shooting into the wind, should the need arise. You could check your O ring is still OK to minimise it, but I did in fact remove my O ring last year when it broke and stopped the gun recycling one day in the field. I have since shot without one, enabling me to extend the time between cleaning sessions. You made a good choice with Hatty and I am sure she will serve you well. A good few days out the Quy Game Fair and I will be there with my two boys, the eldest who has now been a few times and thoroughly enjoys it. As yet it has not been paled by exorbitant prices and many a bargain can still be found, the traders still being "negotiable". I do recommend you take a packed lunch though. Any man who knows good coffee is truely a man of the arts. Pop along Starlight, I'm afraid to inform you I own a Rizzini (cheap!) a CZ (22) a weatherby (243 and fantastic) and an.....Escort!!!! but it would have been an italian if finances allowed, but i needed something for small money that could handle 50gram cartridges for geese at the time, and it hasn't been too bad although after a few mornings on the geese it needed a new o-ring (and i think this is the common problem for the gun not cycling) There's no question the big italian B is a better gun and really not all that much dearer when you flick through gun trader. My father was a German prisoner of war on an open farm in Norfolk which probably encompassed the one you farm now. In 54 years I think I have heard all the jokes about the Turkish/German alliance though look forward to any new ones you may have. I may even have a few you have not yet heard. Firstly take some of the finest drawn hollow section made in china- this ensures material costs keep the product below £300 Utilizing the finest engineering processes work begins Internal polishing of the chamber bore is essential to ensure 'High brass' cartridges can be cycled 30% of the time To be continued....................... I am still waiting. Has anyone actually seen first hand one of these explode?? Or is it all hearsay? I am sure there have been some failures but then there would be other brands that have had failures also. Starlight.. don't suppose witH all your fancy equipment and tubing you could make a decent gun barell themed water feature? Wifey would love that. Starlight, It was an absolute pleasure to meet up with such like minded people, You know the sort who can appreciate quality for what it is. I hope you all wear the Team Beretta badges with pride especially when there is a few hatstand owners around. I echo Baldricks comments about the quality of your replacement barrel for the escorts, it will only show the rest of the gun up as pure tat. The coffee was excellent although sending your wife out to columbia aspecially was a bit much. A trip to Fortnum and Mason would have sufficed. The exquisite range of cream cakes was out of this world. I hope now the escort owners can see an advantage of owning a beretta? we drink quality coffee and have decent cakes at our coffee mornings, not some meet up at a roadside caravan on the A11 to drink nescafe from a polystyrene cup. I shall decline from divulging that information, as this is a Shooting Forum and I probably should not have mentioned it in the first place. It would only encourage more comments such as Bleehs, who did considerately remove the post. Top man Bleeh. Many people worldwide trawl this site, not too old to remember the atrocities from that period. It is in consideration of them that I for one, will not be invoking anything from that time. Back to the matter in hand, after a communique with another member, I have discovered that the revered Datsun is now a £400 plus gun and raise my polystyrene cup to toast the dealer who undersold me mine. In sympathy to future owners of this Turkish Delight, I suggest you snap up a second hand one as soon as you can, as surely this charismatic piece will soon be on everybody's wish list pushing the price up even further. Did I not tell you? First England, next, THE WORLD.. I can see it now, the B word gun relegated to the trash can, unwanted, unloved, superior models such as the Datsun, dominating. It's purely propaganda. The Ministry of Disinformation has rumbled starlight32. The anti's in my view have still not come up with any concrete evidence to support their claims.
