killer rabbit (r1000)
has anyone noticed any mixy or flatflies around your area? flatflies are around the car colston area (bingham - newark), mixy has been moving around the same area in patches for some time & is also present from ruddington - loughborough (moving in waves)... just thought i'd let you know & would be interested to find where else they've been spotted... MerseaDavid
I have only seen 3 rabits with mixy so far this year and all the rest have been in great condition
Baldrick
I have seen a lot of myxy over recent weeks. For example, I shot 187 rabbits yesterday afternoon and evening on one 280ac block, and 91 of the rabbits had myxy. That surprised me, and my shooting pal (a vet). It didn't make for challenging shooting, and in a way I am fairly confident that shooting the infected rabbits is counter-productive, as regards controlling the whole population. pegasus bridge
mixy has really taken hold around my permissions, seems to have spread very quickly once the wheat was cut, i presume because the rabbits had to live in much closer proximity in the hedgerows afterwards. They're blood-sucking parasitic flies found on birds of various species. Horrible little ******* Edited September 26, 2009 by Chard
