garyb
Looks like I might find myself down that way over the weekend with the hounds and girlfriend. Can any of the locals confirm if the mackerel are still showing off the beach? It would be good to pack the rod and a few feathers to fill the freezer / bbq up again Also, what's the local bylaw(s) on dogs on the beach ? turbo33
Hi Gary, If you get to Chesil after Mackeral, try using a fly rod if you have/can borrow one, light line on a cheap spinning reel with a minnow/style sized lure. It is some of the best sport you can have!!!!!!!!..............Good luck. Edited September 8, 2009 by turbo33

MC
Chesil beach isn't that far from Lulworth I have cought mackerel from the cove itself, just walk along the beach a little into open sea.

Dunkield
So as a non-beach fisher, could you just chuck a spinner out for them? And if so, what sort of size? and how far out would they be? (if it is that predictable of course)
garyb
I was just planning on taking a few feathers, maybe a spinner or two. Providing there's food for the BBQ we'll be happy - I won't get away with spending long hours after anything else.
Dunkield
I won't get away with spending long hours after anything else. I could get away with any amount of fishing, but the 'anything else' might be asking too much

mysecretlife
I'm stopping in powerstock next. Think I might be packing my spinning rod now then - might have to chuck out some of the unnecessary stuff, like one of the 10 bags of clothes the Mrs will take to get it in the car thou!
