mick miller
Quick question chaps & chapesses, I have a Beretta 686E which I'm taking out for a little bit 'o wildfowlin'. My gun is steel proofed and is marked as having a 3" chamber, can I therefore use a 3" cartridge in it or can I only use a 2 3/4 to allow for the crimped end to open up properly? Daft question maybe but I generally only use the tiny little Hull 21g's in it for clay bashing. Thanks in advance.

MC
Does it have the Fleur de Lys marking though? If not then you can only use ordinary steel cartridges, not high performance steel.
wymberley
Hi, Mick, Just for info: If you measure an unfired 3 inch, it isn't but it will be when fired. cheers

Pigeon_snIPer
What about firing a 3" in a 2/34" is that safe or risky? Thanks /s/
Traztaz
What about firing a 3" in a 2/34" is that safe or risky? Thanks /s/ Not just riskey but out and out dangerous as the cart. will open into the forcing cone on the gun, and if its steel you are shooting could well result in the barrle exploding in your face. Do not try it!!

starlight32
It's a 686E so yes it has the fleur de wotsits... Thanks all of you for your help! Grab yourself a box or two of 3" High performance steel, all Beretta's are proofed for them as are Brownings and the majority of other newr guns these days. chrispti
Try a box of Remmington Wingmaster HD's, Id advise a gum shield and hold on tight
