What to buy advice please

As many of you know my beloved Mother died recently and what with her investments, my late Dads financial astuteness and the proceeds of the sale of his watch collection and our family home I shall be coming into a considerable sum of money.

I have set out an investment plan which is secure if not without a little risk for a large part of the money and am going to invest the rest in property.

The wife is earmarked for a new car and I might replace the Subaru with another one and I have decided to treat myself to a decent air rifle which will possibly be the last one I will buy so it needs to be future proof.

I don't really want to go the pneumatic route with diving cylinders and the like ( done that and got the tea shirt ) Co2 and gas ram would be considered and would prefer it to be British if possible...say a budget of £1500 for rifle only..

What would you recommend that fits the criteria?

I would use it for pest control, rabbiting and occasional roost shooting.

Thanks

If you dont want PCP , then go for a tuned spring gun.

There are not any new quality gas ram guns about since theoben went down the pan .

Co2 is poor as it produces inconsistent power depending on ambient temperature.

With your budget you will get something very nice , I would go for something like a HW 80 and put it in a CS custom stock and treat it to a full stage 2 tune at sandwell field sports .

You will end up with something similar to this.

Moved :good:

Now pardon my ignorance but is a moderator any good on a springer?

I would have thought most of the noise is the spring?

Bare in mind I'm going back to the mid 70's with my last experience of springers

Oh and what's a stage 2 tune? And what's available tune wise non FAC wise?

Just interested

Yes a lot of noise comes from the action , but a moderator still takes the noise away from what ever you are shooting at down range.

Really? An air rifle??? FM, what are you thinking?

I've got the best shot gun ever made with a straight barrel......£80 Baikal....

And I've had enough of fast cars, lose women, sex drugs and rock and roll...

A old Bsa Airsporter was my first gun and you always go back to your roots. Nothings more definite in life
