pavman
Gents The following picture is of a guy who works for the US Forest Service in Alaska and his trophy bear. He was out deer hunting last week when a large grizzly bear charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy unloaded his 7mm Mag Semi-automatic rifle into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The big bear was still alive so he reloaded and shot it several times in the head. The bear was just over one thousand six hundred pounds. It stood 12 foot 6" high at the shoulder, 14 foot to the top of his head. It's the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world. The beast will be stuffed and mounted, and placed on display at the Anchorage airport (to remind tourist's of the risks involved when in the wild). Based on the contents of the bear's stomach, the Fish and Wildlife Commission established the bear had killed at least two humans in the Past 72 hours. His last meal was the unlucky nature buff in the third The US Forest Service, backtracking from where the bear had originated, found the hiker's 38-calibre pistol emptied. Not far from the pistol were the remains of the hiker. Although the hiker fired six shots and managed to hit the grizzly with four shots (they ultimately found four 38 caliber slugs along with twelve 7mm slugs inside the bear's dead body) it only wounded the bear – and probably angered it. The other body has not been found. The bear killed the hiker an estimated two days prior to the bear's own death by the gun of the Forest Service worker. dazza
search the net there's loads of stories, the pics have been going round for years, its been posted on here before These photos of a hunter posing with an incredibly large bear started circulating around the internet in 2002. Because of the large size of the bear, many suspected that the photo was a fake, yet another 'Large Animal Photo Hoax,' much like Snowball the Monster Cat, or the older tradition of Tall-Tale Postcards depicting various enormous farm animals. But in fact, these pictures are quite real. They haven't been digitally manipulated in any way. Some might argue that the perspective of the photo on the right involves an element of deception, since the bear's head appears larger because it's closer to the camera than the hunter. But while it's true that the angle does enhance the size of the bear's head, this effect doesn't seem to be deliberate. And what is undeniable is that the bear is, in reality, very, very large. In fact, it ranks among the 20 or 30 largest bears ever shot. Here are the basic facts about the bear and how these pictures came to be taken. The bear was shot on October 14, 2001 by Theodore Winnen, a 22-year-old crew member of the 18th Fighter Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base. He's the guy posing in the photos. The photos were taken by his hunting companion, Jim Urban. Jim Urban and Ted Winnen pose with the bear Winnen and some of his friends were on Hinchinbrook Island in Alaska. They encountered and shot this bear on the second day of their hunting trip. They were actually hunting deer, but had brought alone a high-powered rifle in case they ran into a bear. As the picture of the bear circulated via email its weight and size quickly became exaggerated. It was described as weighing over 1800 pounds and being 12 feet in height. In reality it weighed around 1200 pounds and was 10 feet high. But this is still incredibly big. The average bear weighs around 300 pounds. As time went by a third photo was increasingly included with the two photos of Winnen posing with the bear. This third photo showed a human carcass ripped apart, apparently by an animal attack. A caption explained that the bear Winnen shot had been a killer bear and that this was one of its previous victims (the photo is disgusting, so I don't want to show it here, but if you really want to see it, here it is). There was no truth to this claim. The third photo had nothing to do with Winnen and the bear he shot.
