  1. Take some proper financial advice from a proper FSA approved financial advisor, this will be one of, if not the most important decision, you will be making that will define your income for the rest of your life. As a working guy on the tools for most of my career I never thought I would need a financial advisor as I have always looked after my own finances all of my working life but 10 years ago I took advice from a good friend and got in touch with one, 10 years later my plans have come together, I retired last year 3 years earlier than when my state pension will kick in when I hit 66. I'm not saying this was all down to the services of a financial advisor but it certainly helped, and still helps, and it saves me/makes me more than the costs of his fees. Every now and then we need pointing in the right direction and none more so such as now when it comes to this stage in life with regards to pensions and deciding which is the right choice to make, this can be a nightmare with constantly changing markets and requires serious consideration. I believe you can get advice on a one off basis if not wanting to retain the services of an advisor long term. I steered away from indemnities as once the decision is made there is no turning back, that said I understand they are making a comeback due to current market but at the end of the day I listen to a guy who I pay to advise and then make the decision, he knows about money whereas I know about nuts and bolts (or used to). Spend a few quid, get some advice, get the facts, when armed with the options you can then make an informed decision. Hope that helps as my head was a shed regards pensions for years.
  2. Please PM if anything available
  3. Just received a second reply from Hornady with suggestions as to what the issue maybe and basically all of which have already been mentioned or covered. Cant fault them for getting back and following this up. "They could be hard primers. Its hard to say by just looking at the photo. The primers could of been duds. The firing pin strike could of been light. You could of had a slow strike on the primer would make the dent deep enough by not have the quick snap need to make it go off. I will forward this on to our international manager and see if there is someone in your area that we can work with to help you out."
  4. No problem and thanks for the advice, I'm not an expert with regards to how log is long enough but its the same with shotgun misfires, I always wait a while, not minutes, before ejecting a duff cartridge and then give it a wide berth before attempting to discharge it again so as to get shut of it or disposing by other means, most advice is to wait at least 30 seconds in case of a hang fire.
  5. if mine are 2022 possibly 3/22 from lot number on box, I would hazard a guess that these of yours are 2017 3/17, lets see what they come back with
  6. I didn't expect them not to, they appear to run a pretty good online support system which should be the case where ammunition and firearms are concerned, just shows how different the system operates in the US with just popping a box in the post... that said the probably have to use appropriate methods of shipment, don't think UPS accept live ammo over there.
  7. Got a reply from Hornady earlier "Thank you for the email. This lot is a 2022 lot. We do not have anything noted under this lot. We can send you a box for the inconvenience. What is a good address to send this too." Don't think they picked up on that I mentioned that I am in the UK, have suggested perhaps not a good idea as there are restrictions in place regards shipping of live ammunition overseas on both sides of the pond..... Nice offer but not conclusive, will see how the remainder of the box goes once I can get out
  8. Email request sent to Hornady via their contact page along with details and images etc. requesting date of manufacture of lot and requesting if they can confirm if any other reports have been received regarding same issue of misfires and if they can offer an explanation as to what may cause such issues if the firearm is not at fault as appears to be the case here.
  9. Just checked the single box that I have but can't find info online as yet as how to date the batch number
  10. Looks like we both are experiencing the same, off to see if I can a date of manufacture on the box I don't suspect this being a rifle issue now as stripped the bolt again and everything mechanically clean and sound
  11. Be careful, the Geranium protection society will be onto you if you put your plants in harms way ... can we still call them "plants" or will we offend someone....somebody ...something...or whatever it,they, them, those identify as ?
  12. I wondered that also, I have had issues previously with shotgun carts where one of my guns, which is an old 1970's Browning, does not like certain brands and pierces the soft primers which proves interesting out in the field when firing pin refuses to retract under its own steam but never with centre fire rounds, I used to home load for pistols way back when we could and probably shot a fair few thousand of those. Only bought the one box of Hornady to trial along side others so will see how we get on, I plan on using the remainder of this box up on targets as don't want to be working with unreliable rounds when out chasing charlie, need to pick a couple of more brands up to trial also.
  13. Two out of the first seven rounds out of a new box of Hornady 53gn .223 Superformance have failed to fire. The first failure was whist zeroing my latest purchase which is a S/H CZ .223 with the third of six rounds round failing, this round did fire without issue after reloading it a short while later. I stripped and cleaned the bolt after zeroing just to make sure all was well in that department and put the issue down to the rifle perhaps having not been cleaned or serviced prior to sale but nothing obvious at fault. The second failure was last night whilst out with the first shot of the evening resulting in yet another "click" rather than the expected result, ejected round after a couple of seconds and managed to get second shot off on target so not a total failure. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Hornady 53gn .223 Superformance, all of those that fired OK along with the last one that didn't (top row L/H still live) are shown in image attached but wouldn't say that they were exactly light strikes.
  14. Can't view the attached images
  15. Back to ye goode olde days of barter if it lasted longer that supplies 😉
  16. Lloyd90, I don't deny that people in all societies have borrowed in some way shape or form since time immemorial and in actual fact that in itself forms part of those societies and always will, but the point that I was attempting to make is that it is only since the advent of the 1950's Credit system and the way in which the masses have been given access to untold amounts of financial loans with extreme interest rates allows them to get into severe debt quite easily is where it all started going downhill. Generations gone by, myself included, most folk lived on what they earned and not beyond their means, whilst a cashless society may well streamline business and accounting etc. on the other side of the coin and for those with little or no self control or that are unable to manage their own financial circumstances, then continued access to endless credit and increased debts will continue to be an uncomfortable position for quite a lot of society as they are borrowing and spending far far more than ever has been readily available on tap before. We are told that we have a "severe cost of living crisis", what we actually also have is a "severe cost of debt crisis" that has been going on for years and is compounding the issue due to people living beyond their means and now suffering a double whammy trying to keep their heads above water not only to meet the day today increased cost of living but also struggling to meet paying off the cost of incurred debt.
  17. Back in the day when you could ask the question "how much for cash ? "when buying the likes of a second hand car from a non franchised dealer in the hope of saving a few quid, try it now and the young salesmen look at you like you have two heads and really don't understand why you don't want to purchase it on finance or better still lease a new one and swap it out every couple of years !!! all for the price of a "never ending" second mortgage...
  18. Exactly, and its been going on (or not) for years, Started out in the USA with Diners Card and American Express being offered out to the masses, nearly a century on and with the massive interest rates charged means the masses are getting deeper and deeper into the mire.= to the extent we now have ordinary working class folks being made Bankrupt ...........
  19. Do your homework and you'll see that credit cards introduced back in the 50's and have increased consumer debt and helped to seriously damage economies, hardly nonsense if you study the facts
  20. Aside from everything already mentioned above and next to gambling money away, I would bet that "cashless" payment is the biggest debt and will continue to be the biggest debt in society for many individuals. People have been spending money that they don't have on credit cards and getting into massive debt for years, usually buying things they don't need and don't want, just to keep up with the Jones's and can't see it changing any time soon. Call me old school but before all this "fantastic on the plastic" "buy now pay later" baloney, if you couldn't afford it cash, you couldn't afford it...simple as that. don't get me started on "credit score's" !!!! haven't got one as far as I'm aware and don't want one thanks, and never will....

Brace yourself if you think that's bad, its planned to be raised up to 70 in the coming years with the system not being sustainable and no amount of mumping about it will change things. Have a look at what "happened" with raising women's retirement age from 60 to 65 and the 3.8 million affected by the way that was implemented, there are ongoing campaigns etc. in place and talks/discussions going on behind the scenes, but I doubt very much indeed if there will ever be satisfactory results achieved. Retirement age increases have already been accepted without any serious complaint or objection raised and us good old brits have just soaked it up and taken it on the chin as we often do, I don't know enough on the subject but do wonder where it will all end what with now trying to tempt the over 50's back into work and support a broken system.
