  1. Are you sure? I was looking at a brand new Medalist on Saturday
  2. I really like my Lightning XL, and provided you do your bit, its more than capable of rabbits and pigeons out to 30 yards. However if you can cope with the extra weight and expence the 97k is a better gun - as is a TX200.
  3. I would think if you post the serial number in the "Collectors" section on AirgunBBS someone will be able to help you out with the age. I'm not sure if Carl does re-bluing, but if not I'm sure he'll be able to point you in the right direction. He'll sure get those internals running like new again. He had a tinker with my Goldstar a few months back and its legal limit one hole groups again
  4. GunsInternational are superb, Carl really knows his stuff. Highly reccomended
  5. I bought the Sonic II's. They were ok for the first half hour, but after that they became increasingly uncomfortable. I've now got the Peltor Sport tac's - excellent! Expensive, but woth every penny. I got mine from these guys - excellent service too! http://www.best4headsets.co.uk/category/as...619/af/page.htm
  6. Buy the gun that fits you best. I bought my first shotgun earlier this year, after trying several I found the Silver Pigeon III to be the gun that felt right. I've put a few thousand cartriges through it so far and I'm very happy with the gun.
  7. I don't want to start the whole calibre debate again, but I've had this happen on feral pigeons at close range with .177. I stick to .22 (or .25 at close range) on them now. You could try using heavier pellets to give you more "knock down" power. As said above head shots only.

    PIGEONS

You also need to ensure when you take your shot there is a backstop behind the Pigeon, so if you miss or the pellet goes straight through it doesn't hit anything/anyone else. I'd also say its head shots only for me with pigeons with air riles.
  9. Sounds like you've got most of the common problems all going on at once! The rear wiper motors are fairly notorious, expensive to replace and difficult to come by second hand - different from the motors on the 146 too
  10. Yeah, you could say I've an interest - I've had two, my last one I had eight years. They can be tempremental, but worth it. A good specialist is vital and will save you £££'s. The wipers sound more like a switch problem to me, the grease build up causes juddering, not them not working at all! Again a search on 145.com could shed some light. If you do need a new switch try PMing a member called Lancsbreaker - he will likely have a secondhand one
  11. Glad you've found your problem Andy. ****** its snapped at that end, I was hoping it would be at the **** side. :look:
  12. You can buy a brand new S200 gun only for £350, so I think that is top dollar second hand.
  13. Have a look here http://forum.alfa145.com/index.php?showtop...+heater+control
  14. Sounds like its still conected to the heater control then, could be broken at the heater end. Like I said, post it up on 145.com.
  15. Usually on an Alfa 145 its the mechanism that has failed, just my experiences, and I could be wrong - but I have had plenty of contact with these cars.
  16. If its just boken off the back of the heater control swich you won't need to start taking the dash out. Does it feel as if the dial is moving anything? Like I said a post on alfa145.com is your best bet, some of the boys on there really know their stuff
  17. Normally if its the heater matrix you'll have wet footwells.
  18. Quite often the cable snaps off the back of the heater switch, or the actual heater itself - which is a PITA as you need to take half the dash out to get to it! I had two 145 Cloverleafs - one for 8 years, great little cars Only sold it to fund my 147 GTA Try looking here http://forum.alfa145.com/
  19. I agree, my old man has one and it really is a great rifle. Only real downside is the lack of a presure guage, but thats not a major concern. I've dropped plenty of rats with my dads He has the ten shot conversion and it does work ok, but its a long way off the smoothness of the mag on my S410K.
  20. Tell her to get to the gym! Seriously though, I think if you want it lighter than an S400 your going to be limited. BSA Ultra or a Falcon Lighthunter perhaps?
  21. I've got a .25 BSA Lightning XL with a 3-9x50 Hawke scope on - no lamp as yet as where I normally shoot there are security lights that the rats are used to.
  22. My wife did the red wine gravy recipie last night, it was great! It was the first time either of us had eaten pigeon and we really enjoyed it. I just need to go and shoot some more now!
  23. Nope - usually lighter and different ribs. Different chokes in this instance too, the Game has the "Mobil chokes" the Sporting has the "Optima chokes" - not actually sure what the differance is though!
  24. I've not had a tactical, but I had a .177 XL and now have a .25 XL, a little jumpy in .177 due to the lightweight but very managable and a cracking gun for the money. In .25 just make sure you get the gunsmith to ream out the breach a little so you can get more than just BSA pellets in! Some people critisise the trigger, but I've always got on well with it - I could drop 50 yard knockdowns with the .177 I think the Lightning is great value for money, and I love its compactness and pointability. I've a few air rifles, including PCP's but there's always room for my Lightning in the cabinet
