  1. But it still screws tightly onto the rest of the threads and is tight enough that it is hard to unscrew with your hand. Or am I missing something
  2. I've already asked for pics but he wont play ball Get the thumbscrews out I reckon
  3. Apparently it's 9 turns but the first few push over the thread then the last five or so actually screw on how you would expect them to. Cheers
  4. It actually seems a very good gun and even cycles subsonics which surprised us. The end cap looks in very good condition and was tight when we fired a single shot, then he fired 3 to see if the end cap would come off again as it did before and lo and behold it did and was lost in the grass. The threads seems fine though which is puzzling
  5. Yes very helpful as expected Any sensible replies
  6. Friend of mine has just bought a very nice second hand Hatsan Escort in 20g but has found that if he fires all three cartridges the magazine tube nut blows off despite being really tight and apparently locked on solid. Just had to go and find it with a metal detector after firing it in the dusk Any ideas why this could be happening and any links to the correct assembly of the O rings etc would be appreciated.
  7. Yes, these chaps do it for a couple of hundred or so. http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/SG_Hushpower.htm
  8. You might find that it isn't shot at all, but bits of plastic from the powder side of the shot cup that is forced against the barrel wall. The ports sometimes act like a cheese grater taking shavings off, along with clumps of burnt nitro powder that accumulate in there.
  9. When you unscrew the breech end you will find the tube is scraped clean inside by a 10mm thick steel bush that is fixed to the muzzle of the gun. It sometimes takes a bit of work to get the outer sleeve right off because of this
  10. You're going in from the wrong end, it should unscrew from the breech so that the tube moves forward leaving the threaded bush still attached
  11. Hatsan's don't appear to have any serial numbers at all on the barrel. Don't know how you would go about recording a spare in that case
  12. Does a barrel need reproofing if it has just been shortened and not structurally weakened by porting (or screwcutting in the case of rifles) for example
  13. How do you mark your reloads so you know exactly what is in them when you have different recipes or pellet weights in the same cases
  14. The threaded bush is the adaptor
  15. I think they machine a threaded bush to fit your barrel and Loctite it on, then the silencer screws on and off it
  16. Nobody mentioned an O/U though  My single 20g is a dream for a mooching gun but also makes a good account for itself when decoying too
  17. I looked at the Phantom but I read somewhere that they are true cylinder bored, ie, no choke so would have very restricted range in such a small calibre. Personally I think the 20g Hushpower is the way to go, so much more versatile. HTH Andy
  18. So pleased that your first attempt turned out so well Then again you did get expert tuition I'm still trying to work out where to store this 276 kilos that I have left from the 1/2 ton I made Floating Chamber ultimately takes all the credit
  19. Any standard 2 1/2" are the cheapest option and pretty quiet
  20. Be aware that Hushpowers have a tendency to shoot low so you need to lift your head to be on target
  21. I've shot ones like that, just assumed they were young and hadn't developed the white neck markings yet.
  22. What's wrong with making your own out of 25mm MDF and a 1" auger bit
  23. Strangely you can get a better price for soft shot from people who use it as ballast in diving belts, Just look on Ebay. That cuts out a lot of work because it doesn't need alloying with linotype and doesn't even need to be round for that purpose.
