  1. I own a 20g one that I bought as a project. It is now my favourite gun to carry around the fields. It only weighs 6lbs and points as well as any gun I have. Lets face it, there aren't many alternatives for that kind of money. The only fault is that it throws cartridges a long way and they take some finding.
  2. I have a 20g recipe that calls for cx2000 primers,I dont have many of them but I do have a fair amount of cx50s which are milder. Anyone have any idea how I can go about using the cx50s while still maintaining the cartridges performance, and safety. Does it require extra propellant (A1) and if so how much to compensate. I also have some primers decapped from Winchester Western 32g 5s that I would like to use if anyone has information that would allow me to. TIA
  3. No because the different calibres use different types and amounts of propellant to achieve the same ultimate velocities in the respective cartridges.
  4. The shot size is irrelevant as long as the recipe shot weight isn't exceeded, but reloading press bushes will throw different weights for different shot sizes. You just need to check to make sure you stay on the safe side.
  5. The two different pellets wouldn't have the same energy at the same velocity though would they. The smaller one would have to be travelling considerably faster to have the same kinetic energy so I don't see how this point has any value. It would generally be travelling slower due to less momentum. Frankly I have come to the conclusion that 6 1/2s are probably the best way to go in 28g, I was out this evening and had to walk a good mile to where I was roost shooting. I took a 6lb 20g auto cos I couldn't cope with a heavy 12g to shoot heavy loads from.
  6. Ring your bank and give them the details from the paying in slip that HMRC sent you and get them to transfer it straight from your account into theirs. Simples
  7. 3 Teague extended chokes (Beretta fitting). 1/4, 1/4 and skeet with Teague choke key £50 posted may split. Beretta Mobilchokes flush fitting. Skeet, 3/4 and Full with key/thread cleaning tool £35 posted may split. EDIT: All now sold
  8. Paypal charge 4%, how much were you sending
  9. I have just added a further cabinet next to my first one due to me aquiring another gun and I didn't want to have them all banging about in too tight a space. When I notified them of my new gun purchase the online form had a box at the bottom for further information so I told them that I had bought and fixed a new cabinet too. Whether they come to check it is now up to them, it only took them a year or so to check the first one but the ball is now in their court and I have covered myself.
  10. Shame the family weren't as interested in saving the dog. If that had been mine I'd have been in there with a garden fork
  11. I had to cut a short piece of plastic off the part where the clay goes in, it was holding the clay too firmly and my weedy missus couldn't get them to come out when she flung it Trimmed about an inch off IIRC and it works much better now
  12. No doubt the same applies between 5s and 6s so who would use 6s on pigeon with a clear conscience Or is enough energy enough
  13. I have one and they are useful. Very easy to carry and will fling a clay a fair distance with practice. Being able to acccurately judge which direction they are going to travel in takes a bit of practice but it saves dragging a trap up the field.
  14. What's that all about then You go to buy a new gun and take one that you own in part exchange. Suddenly the price of the gun you are purchasing rises by £100 or so to the 'part exchange price' and I assume the gunshop also offers you a derisory sum for your old gun therefore screwing you twice. Are they taking the pee
  15. Doesn't have to resort to insults cos he's lost the argument though does he Now that would be stupid
  16. No-one asked what the optimal cartridge was, you just introduced that to justify your griping. The question was can they kill pigeons cleanly at close range and you know the answer is yes, so why keep digging a hole for yourself Just admit you were wrong and hadn't bothered to read the first post properly before going off half cocked
  17. We weren't answering your question, we were replying to the OP. Nevertheless all shots I take are in range of the cartridges I use and I don't use 7 1/2s as a preference but am aware that they can be used at reasonable ranges. Interestingly everyone seems to be raving over the Mark Gilchrist video posted on this forum and strangely all those pigeon he is killing are being shot with 28gram 7 1/2s.
  18. You are The question was whether they were capable of killing close decoyed pigeons, not some scenario you made up in your head to be awkward
  19. So 28grams of 7 1/2 can't kill close pigeon Don't talk stupid
  20. Do you mean this, http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/nn31/si...current=001.jpg
