  1. Good on him. He did nothing wrong. After all, I doubt he needs it. If he did then he would have gone for it...
  2. Thanks a lot for that, and well done again!
  3. Well done for getting it sorted. Just one question. Can you please give some more details on going directly to the lab and getting it all tested faster and cheaper? How can I find them? Just in case I need them in the future, I do not need them currently, thankfully. Thanks!
  4. I have an identical one (55 plate, SVE, Dci). Great cars. They initially had a problem with the turbo and the intercooler as it was leaking, but this was easy to avoid by doing some work on the intercooler, if I remember correctly. Mine is on 100k miles and still going strong.
  5. The Lords point is a valid one. Professors? Why? what do you have against them? Would you rather if they were central bankers or city traders? I know who I would have more faith in...
  6. Everything that does not spread fear is 'pro European' in your books, I guess... Read the 'about us' page, especially that of who the trustees are, who their funders are, who sits on their board, their credentials and their history and then think again. I think it is you who needs to take the blinkers off...
  7. Exactly. Unfortunately the UK has in the last few decades turned into an import Economy. Same goes for most of Europe, bar for a few niche areas in each country.
  8. No, I did not. All I did was present you with one of the very few (to my knowledge, anyway) systematic and organised approaches on finding out where the laws, acts etc come from. If you read the article carefully it actually says that pinning it down to a certain percentage is next to impossible (for all the reasons it explains). The reason I linked to the article is to add to the debate a voice other than the scaremongering that the EU has replaced national law and 'we need to take our country back' and other bull spewed by sensationalists, scaremongers and people with nefarious interests in spreading fear. That's all...
  9. Just to bring some facts to this debate, perhaps you care to read this. Now feel free to go back to emotion laden paranoia.
  10. Do you happen to know what the UK exports, by any chance? Or what the import/export ratio is? I would very much like to know.
  11. I loved it. Great movie!

    Skiing

Yes, I know. it will my sixth time there as we love it. We have been to many places in the Alps, but Saas Fee somehow has a special place in our hearts. This will be our first time the whole family (including a 5 year old and a 1 year old) so we are understandably even more excited!

    Skiing

That is last week's news. There has been over 1,5 meters of snow in the north and Western alps. In the Dolomites, despite there being no snowfall the pistes are in excellent shape due to the amazing effort that has been put on making snow...

    Skiing

I am off on the 16th. I cannot wait! Saas Fee again, skiing on a glacier and generally above 1800m
  15. Can you please put a link here for the forum with the instructions? Thanks!
  16. May 2016 bring you all the nice things 2015 forgot to, and take away all the sorrows 2015 decided to offer you. Above all, I wish you health, happiness and love. Hug those you love, and make sure you tell them how important they are to you. Life is way shorter than you think. Be less angry, smile a little more. Oh, and this!
  17. I wish to all of you to receive the same kindness from others if you ever find yourself needing it.

    Flooding

It is a nightmare here. Bridges shut, some have collapsed, water everywhere. It has been raining since Christmas eve, no real respite. It might stop for an hour or two and then comes back with a vengeance...
  19. A friend of mine had just received his £70k vehicle three weeks ago. When the rains started he was aware of the dangers and moved his car on the side of a hill. Returned the next day and the water was 3 meters lower than his car. Tried to remotely unlock it, nothing happened. The guy living near the hill told him that the night before the water was up to his wind shield. The car is a write off. The hill was not a tiny one, we are talking about perhaps 10 meters elevation from the base of the hill. Sometimes nature is predictable...
  20. It depends on which tradition you follow. If you believe he is St Nicholas, then it is the 6th of December. If you believe it is St Basil the Great, it is the 1st of January.

    Berlin

If you are the adventurous type (and like walking), I recommend one evening after dinner to walk to Brandenburger Tor and from there to Tiergarten. Once there you will be taken aback by the sight of Siegessäule at night, whilst some amazing street musicians play their music from one of the underpasses. Walk a bit further East and you will come across one of the three Soviet war memorials. This one has to real T 34 tanks at its sides. This area always captivates me at night, no matter how many (dozens) of times I have done that walk...
  22. I would love a cold winter. To be fair to them (the decent weather forecasters, not the copy and paste monkeys at the tabloids) they said that the cold will reach Europe towards the end of December with January and February being exceptionally cold. We will see...
  23. That's true. I know for sure that Germany's numbers have changed too. For the better, if you know what i mean.
