  1. Armi just means weapon or weapons in Italian, so Armi Bettinsoli would just mean bettinsoli weapon you sometimes see it with beretta too. Fuzrat
  2. Cheers, that looks like the sort of place Bruno, I could give a description but 20 odd years have past and time ravages
  3. Hi guys, Back when I was a nipper we went on holiday to a caravan on a farm in Wales. As part of the deal I was able to take the gun and have a walk round the farm with the dogs. Was also next to river which you could fish if you wanted. Best holiday ever, sister and her mate mucked around in the river and I got to shoot all week Anyone know of anywhere like this in the south west or wales. Caravan or holiday cottage on a farm? Many thanks Fuzrat
  4. Price dropped to £175 ono Really need the cabinet space make me a near offer Fuzrat
  5. non- registered tend to be button yourself and I have found you can make them easier of harder just by playing with which target is sent first or firing them simo instead of on report. Registered you have to shoot them as the target setter lays them out and they do tend to be a bit stiffer. Distance is not always an indicator of difficulty, the close ones can be tough too if the course setter is any good Fuzrat
  6. Not used them, but give these a ring http://www.clayshootingcompany.com/simulatedGameDays.htm Its Steve and Allison, same people who run Westfield, Windrush and Weston Wood shooting grounds so should be reasonable if their cpsa shoots are anything to go by Fuzrat
  7. I dont think that more lady instructors would bring more ladies into shooting, however I think more grounds doing ladies days/sessions at a sensible price would really work. If you take another fairly male dominated sport, Golf. My club runs various ladies clinics and the total beginners clinic is very well attended. Taught by male pros they cost a bucket of balls per session and the coaching comes for free. The pro shop more than makes their money back with the ladies going on to buy clubs, shoes, gloves etc. Great way for me to practise too, the missus goes off with the pro and the girls and has her beginners session and I can hit a few balls at the other end of the range, meet up after for a bevvie in the clubhouse and its "together time" Take 5 ladies out on a skeet range charge them cost price for clays and carts for a 5 week course, you will hook at least 1 of them who will then spend hubbys hard earned on a new gun (while he is on the next layout practicing ) and the sessions have paid for themselves. Simples Ladies like to do new things without the men folk watching and judging :yp: Fuzrat
  8. Mine has a pre-printed signature on it, wouldnt have thought the big chief has time to sign all of them so its just approved with the stamp on yours. Worth a phone call to find out though. Dont forget to sign it yourself! Local Gunshop makes a fortune for charity by handing out £5 "fines" for forgetting to sign them! Fuzrat
  9. Few on the rape today with my bank robbers escort (24 inch barrel :yp: ) and no it didn't break or jam Fuzrat
  10. Was out on the rape today. Got there nice and early, spied a likely spot where I walked 20 or so off. Under a known flightline with the wind at my back and it looked pretty much perfect. Out came all the toys, Stealth hide draped with some local old mans beard and dead grass to help it blend in (looked a treat, should have taken a pic), magnet whirling away, flapper and 2 dozen shells on homemade springs. 3 hours later, not a shot over the 3 hours flapper came in, still no joy. Magnet in, nothing. Back out again with both then 1 at a time. Dead as a dodo. A few were floating towards me but veering off about 150 yrds out. Not spooked "lets get the hell out of here", just "dont really fancy going over there" Packed all the gear up and and decided to just have a stand around in the wood further up the field. drove the truck round and parked up and thought "what the hell I'll take a dozen deeks with me" Chucked the deeks out in a rough U just balanced on top of the rape, hunkered down in the dry drainage ditch running up the side of the wood after chucking some dead branches and Ivy fallen from the trees in front of me. 5 mins later, pigeon comes dive bombing in and lands right in the middle of the pattern before I have a chance to get the gun up. Despatched on the deck. Kept up nice and steady for an hour or so then suddenly stopped. Damn wind had done nearly a 180 nipped out and turned all the deeks round into the wind again and lo and behold in they come again. Finished up with 8 shot for 19 carts (only 6 picked 2 hit like a hammer and carried on into the wood a bit farther up, had a walk up expecting to find them but not a sign. should have taken the dog ) Just goes to show all the toys in the world wont work if you're not in the right spot and you can have a great afternoons sport with just a handful of deeks and some dead branches dug out of the wood for a hide Fuzrat
  11. You dont have to keep shotgun cartridges in a safe, just keep them somewhere out of plain sight and out of reach of any kids etc. best not to keep them under the bed as they burn hot as hell in a fire. Back of wardrobe is usually a good place or up in the loft. Fuzrat
  12. wait til Chard only improves by 49% then collect his from the empties bin  Fuzrat
  13. oooooooooooooppppppppppssssss  my bad, maths went south for a minute, hmm that adds some serious money to the total thanks MC will give you a shout when I get enough cash to have a go Fuzrat
  14. Thanks Sits just done a rough calculation using peter lawmans website and I rekon I can load 1000 carts for about 130 quid 3kg shot 11.25, 1.5kg powder 50.85 (working on 20grains per cart) fibre wads 35.95 and primers 34.95. Thats on 28g carts, will have a some shot and powder left over too. Even less for 24gram 20g loads Fuzrat
  15. Cheers JW, I thought that would be the case with fibre v plas recipes. I just hate to see plaswads littering up the countryside and even photo/biodegradeable wads take time to break down. Dont want to start another ruck about wether plaswads harm cows or sheep but I wouldnt want my cows eating them so I prefer not to let my farmers cows eat them either. Just kind of feeling my way into reloading, I know im not gonna save much if anything on 12g but hopefully will offset some costs on my 20g (mum and dad both shoot 20's so have a captive market ) Its more I will be able to load what I want rather than what the manufacturers want to sell me Edit to say, how many times can you reload the average case or is it fire once, reload then bin Cheers Fuzrat
  16. Popped into Reloading Solutions in Oxford this morning to find out a bit about shotgun loading only to find they dont sell shotgun reloading stuff, just rifle stuff Did get a book "reloading for shotgunners" while I was there which has some good info. Mainly aimed at the US market and how many of the components mentioned in the recipes are available over here I dont know. I understand most of the data ie for a 1oz 20g 2 3/4 inch cartridge, primer fedaral 209, powder blue dot (min 23grains/1220fps, max 25grains/1275fps, max pressure 10,300psi) with a remmington sp20 wad. Question is, this is for a fiocchi case, will the recipe change for a different case or will it just result in varying performance or even worse dangerously high pressures? I am looking to re-use any 70mm cases I can get my hands on, so how do I know what case Hull or Eley or Gamebore use? Also, all the recipes as far as I can tell are plastic wads and I would ideally like to reload fibre. From the bits I have read on here and other sites I dont think they are interchangeable or are they? Cheers Fuzrat
  17. when I bought mine brand new, It came with 2 full chokes and no quarter in the box, typically the one I use most Called the Edgar Bros dealer I bought it from (Woodland Enterprises, just down the road from Wantage. Highly recommended BTW) and they had a quarter choke in from Edgars 2 days later Fuzrat
  18. Weston Wood is close, just up the A34 about 20 mins from Abingdon the same people run 2 other grounds down toward Cheltenham, Four Counties, just the other side of Wantage about half hour away. These are both Sunday grounds. For weekday you could give Ian Coleys place a go, they have claymate so can shoot on your jack jones. thats about an hour away. Same distance ish for E J Churchills and Royal Berkshire Shooting School but they are a bit more pricey as you have a "caddy" to button for you. all of the above are on the net, give em a google. Hope some of that is some use, Fuzrat
  19. 1/4 I often think people tend to over-choke and handicap themselves with too tight a pattern. Fuzrat
  20. As already mentioned, Hornet or Weston Wood are an easy drive from most parts of bucks and well worth a try. Weston always attracts a decent amount of shooters and has a decent payout (not that I could ever see any of it) also on the pool shoot there is a B/C class pot so everyone can get a look in. Four counties is another good layout and the Burgers are top notch! you should make it in about an hour from Aylesbury/Wycombe side of bucks (I can do aylesbury from my place in 50 mins and four counties is about 10-15 mins further, I drive an L200 that drinks diesel over 60mph and I'm tight so it stays below that  ) Fuzrat
  21. why not load them up on the loadall then RTO them? as its non tox I assume you wont be doing that many and hand closing them will get a really good finish. cheaper to buy a RTO tool than a new loader if the lee doesnt cut the mustard. Fuzrat
  22. very simply, the 215 bit is the tyre width, the 65 bit is a percentage of the width to give the height of the tyre and the r16 bit is the radius of the wheel rim. so that gives 215x65%= a overall circumference of 139.75 a 235/85 would be 199.75 far to big a size increase. Will make it very high geared, your speedo will show major incorrect and tyres may well rub on bumpers etc on full lock. google tyre calculator and thhey tell will you how big a difference in size and speed change you will have and if its within the limits. (wont tell you if it rubs tho. Fuzrat
  23. replacement wing spreaders are available from site sponser, UK Shoot Warehouse. can get pretty much everything on your list and more from them. plus, spend £50 and get 5% discount over £100 and get 10% Fuzrat
  24. dont forget 4 safety pins on the back of your skeet vest with little corners of ripped paper on them, makes you look like a hotshot fitasc dude  Fuzrat
