I have a 16" .308 - although I had it built that way (ie the barrel started life at 16"......so, the taper is "right") I've no knowledge of the smith you mention, but I'd ask how long was it originally? You should get around 2,450-2,500fps with 150g's - so well deer legal and enough to bring home the bacon. Are you planning to reload ?

Get down to ALDI / LIDL and buy a few pallets (yes pallets) of dog chum & feed........ then when there's more foxes than kids they'll have to sanction something effective.........surely

Is it a black one ? 26 or 28" barrel ? Cheers AndyCM -
Yep, one of the local farmers piles up rotten veg all year, onions, spring onions and a whole host of green stuff that spends a few months undisturbed. Then it gets spread and it sure does waft !!! Better than when another farmer (few years ago) used human waste.....that was a lot worse. Cheers AndyCM

Fill them with water, shoot them (end on) for fox kill zone practice at 150 / 200 / 250 ......as far as you like

AndyCM replied to Bigamos's topic in Guns & Equipment
If there was such a thing no one would buy it ! If you think about it they are such different bits of kit no one firm would be good at all three. So mix and match it is. Cheers AndyCM -

Yep, range estimation at night is a lot harder I've been caught out so many times in the past (on a slow night) with putting a rifle away too early, only to spot one ......now I only case the rifle when we're at the final gateway and have had the last flash around Good shooting, lucky it was a .243 eh ! Cheers AndyCM

Maybe the yanks are keener on tracking after the shot than us. They hunt with semi autos too, which might help. Cheers AndyCM

Wearing gardening gloves makes for a painfree maintenance job.....those extractors have sharp edges & the spring has some tension locked up there

I was amazed recently when I did a CAW CAAAWWW..........CAW CAAAWWW and about three times on the trot (over about 30 minutes) a crow appeared in the sitty tree above me looking at my decoys That is the feeding call apparently (and yes I sounded like a duck - but the crows didn't mind. If they spot any movement....they're gone. Lots of good stuff here http://www.crowbusters.com/ Good luck AndyCM

I'd try a box of 67 + 70 mm The weight you are using should be ok, just in a longer case. Bet that helps. Cheers AndyCM
-
So what's that in metric......65 / 67 or 70 ? I was on about cartridge length, short ones tend to stick.....so try longer (up to chamber length) Cheers AndyCM
-
Hi Craig, What length are they ? Cheers AndyCM
