  1. 12 so far this year, probably that’s it for January for me, all .223 & Drone. Some to bait, some just walked up on & Vixen in heat call. one big dog fox evaded me for 4-5 trips and walking back to the car, one last look saw him dropped at 100 yards total 48
  2. 5 today off the pheasant wheat feeder + a new peanut went up next to the existing feeder. I’ll do a survey on the next visit of how many squirrels prefer peanuts 😁 17
  3. Hornady Superformace is pretty good, I was surprised when I chrono'd it....53g Vmax at 3,295fps out of a 20" barrel 1 in 9 twist
  4. Harrycat, You could try keeping the top of the plate clean(ish) and smearing the bait on the underside - makes them jump about a bit on the top.....then WHACKEROO

  7. & possibly the other end of the UK, One being tested in Truro, Cornwall !!! - linked to a high risk area (wonder if that's Glasgow or London )
  8. I had great results last year with the PIR buzzer, luckily shooting a lot over snow covered ground so ok with no extra light, moonlight was enough. I've just taken delivery of a new double PIR from easy alarms and had my first ding dong last night around 6.....tonight I'm waiting & ready with the photon. Makes life much easier, good luck. AndyCM
  9. Arrive early, and pitch up to cover 200 yard odd radius (with backstops) - get the early ones in daylight, they stand out well against freshly cut corn / barley. Can be more difficult in rape, especially if they leave long stalks, it can still be long enough to hide a fox of catch a bullet. If you bait, lay it out in the direction of the bullets path (if you know roughly where you'll be shooting from later). It is much easier to move the crosshairs up or down a little rather than left to right if the cubs run up and down the bait. Bait needs to be trod in, pegged down or tied together - so they can't pick it up and run to cover. Cheers AndyCM
  10. Hi, I have a problem with rats around the house & need to set a few traps. I have the BMI 110 / Bodygrip / Conibear traps & the mounting kill clips but could do with tunnel plans for the 110's to work in. Anyone have any plans or links please ? Cheers AndyCM - it's pretty serious, on their last raid they nabbed a packet of Maryland Cookies, 5 twix and a few kitkats.....and I was accused of scoffing the lot on one sitting !
  11. Totally depends on access, distance to drag / carry out any stuff nearby to protect / avoid (fences, sheds, green houses, kids climbing frame, pond) Conservation area / TPO status Public nearby ? Arbtalk.com is a reasonable place to look, rather than yellow pages Cheers AndyCM
  12. If you have permission to shoot over farms then that in writing will be what the FLO/FEO is looking for to process the application (you make no mention of range / target use ?) & your choice of calibres would suggest rabbits/vermin & foxes and or deer. If you have permission for all or some of that having it in writing from the landowner(s) will be expected by the FEO & depending on where the FEO may call or visit the landowner. Are you ready with your answers to any potential questions that the FEO may ask ? Who is your FEO (you can look up by postcode)? - feel free to pm me for any detailed questions Cheers Andy
  13. Nice going Magwitch, You are still breeding them well then! Cheers AndyCM
  14. Unfortunately, this day has been cancelled by GWCT due to the monsoon season ! Apparently the site is unsuitable due to the wet conditions. I have emailed & pm'd zeff1357 the news but have had no reply and don't have a number for him. If anyone knows him and could drop him a text or call it would be much appreciated, as I don't want him driving to a quagmire tomorrow and getting stuck! Thanks AndyCM
  15. I'd be interested to know if this has been resolved ? Anyone know ? Thanks AndyCM
  16. Result, Bet your heart was pumping a bit. Good luck for the deer soon. AndyCM
  17. Bulletboy, Have you run out of real ones ?
  18. Ok Zeff, All yours, pm on way AndyCM
  19. I recently booked a place on the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Pheasant release 1 day course here: http://www.gwct.org.uk/support_us/attend_an_event/search_for_an_event/3395.asp Unfortunately I can't make the day. If it is of use to you you can have the place (cost me £60) free to you ! Please post here & drop me a pm with your email address. Thanks AndyCM
  20. Rats don't like hanging around in the open, owls, birds of prey & shooters get 'em ! If they are under cover they are likely to stay around happily taking your bait (yes, stuff that they can't make off with is best). Something like a pallet or wood, cardboard that you can arrange so the rats think they are safe (from any danger) but you can still sneak a pellet is at a convenient angle should work well. I've used this trick loads of times in farm yards making use of what's around to bait under. Don't let the see your feet move or they'll be off. Good luck. AndyCM
  21. Yes please to the hoist, I could pick up around 10th July if that I'd ok for you ? I'll drop you a pm with details Thanks AndyCM
  22. That is some impact, top work Makes me want to get out with mine. Cheers AndyCM
  23. Are they tough foxes where you are !!! Did he have his hat sellotaped to his head ? Fair old boom stick that Cheers AndyCM
  24. A bit of rabbit fur wrapped over some stinky paste bait means they can't nibble / lick it off. They'll have to bite & pull, just what you want. Using something to tie the rabbit wrap around the bite piece will help & I agree with the front approach only. The base of a large tree or into a bank with only front access will do well. Did you weather the stuff before setting & keep human scent off the whole area? Not used one myself but seen one set in a wood, impressive bit of kit but if the main wire gets tangled up on a catch (like snares) it can work out at £25 a catch. Cheers Andy
