  7. And too be fair it is HTML based behind the scenes so is a bit easier to tweek if you are new to it all. Where as NOP is asp based and builds the pages on the fly. Still think pound for pound if you are trying to sell something (or lots of things) NOP wins but it is mainly a cart based product with forum and blogs whereas Joomla does whatevver the 100s of add ons can do if that makes any sense. If you pm me I can show you both examples as I have an site on each. Dan
  8. I have had a Joomla site and can recommend, there are so many plug in extentions most of which are free its great. I would say Joomla for a gereral site or NOP Commerce for a cart style shop. Both a free. My brother in laws NOP Commerce store has been open for about 6 months and he is already high first page for key phrases and high page two for keyword. NOP seems very very good at SEO because he hasn't done anything wizzy. I set it up from a standard template and then messed around with the CSS and files to tweek it a bit. Google old tools for sale and he is 3rd. Give NOP a look. Dan
  9. Love it, I might even do it for free. Dan

    Books

Good good, i have this on my dining table and it's up next. I spend a lot of time on the train so am getting through them quickly. I am currently reading Spainish Gold - factual book all about pirates and privateers. Its good but i keep falling asleep while reading (not sure if i am really tired or its a little dry). Recently finished Climate Wars - that was a barrel of laughs, if your not on anti depressants before your will def need them after. All about climate change but puts the possible political slant on it and what action each country could take against its neighbours when water and food runs short. The Death Instinct - Not my normal reading but quite good. I am waiting for the next Lee Child book to come out. He has had 8 months, how long can it take to write a book! Dan
  13. +1 my mates has one, bit pricey though. Its so powerful it has a laser warning symbol on the side. Edit: sorry meant to say i haven't tried the D7 this one is the d14 frogman (150 luminous flux). "Professional divers know that conventional lamps don’t get you very far when under water. Refraction rules out long ranges. Therefore, we designed a lamp that due to its axial collimator attains a strength of focus that has hitherto been considered impossible. The lamp head consists of high-grade steel, the body of shock-resistant and shatter-proof plastic. A newly-developed magnetic switch facilitates easy handling even with gloves. Compared to the previous model, we have doubled the light output (3 watt chip). Four Mignon (AA) batteries provide more than 20 hours of light. The chip has a service life of 100,000 hours, i.e. if the lamp is operated for 3 hours per week, the diode will last for 600 years."

    Chainsaw

Take it to Rouses. They are good and cheap! I had a simular issue on mine and couldn't work it out. Turns out one of the gaskets in the carb had gone. Dan Dan
  15. Much as it pains me to say but Labour have called out against the strikes dispite their union roots.
  16. No expert by any means. Do you think it may be an issue with the valves sticking, if the cylinders were under compression it might stop the starter from turning Dan
  17. No confusion from me. IMO your comment is balanced with measured actions, i would have done the same. My gripes are that some seem to suggest that such a thing as dog running over could never happen with their dog and some seem to take a 'proactive' approach to dishing it out. Dan
  18. You get to choose where to keep your money as well. This is answering the typical 'bankers get paid too much cause all the pain' comment. Its a sideline of the original. Dan
  19. Nothing to do with those that borrowed money they couldn't pay back then? Comments straight out of the media again, i wish people wouldn't just repeat stuff, unless you are mr peston in which case the trivel is first hand. The state the country is in is exactly the same thing that individuals have done. Paying out more than they have coming in, running up debt they can't afford for things they don't need, thinking of the short term instead of the long term. The finance industry should have been stricter on what it lent and wrapping bad loans and passing them on to some other bank was just stupid and was always going to backfire. You can kid yourself if you like, its no skin off my nose, but it was greed all round that caused this. Dan
  20. The Evening Stanard had some intertesting facts on the pay of the union leaders today. i read this after doing my 14 hour day whilst being paid for 7. Really interesting was the guy who said when elected that he would only take the average workers pay, he is now on something like 80k + 25k a year penion contrubutions. to be honest i can't stand all the bitching, its swings and roundabouts, and i agree with Vipa's comments about if you want the money change to a career that pays it. Personally i think footballer are vastly overpaid but then i don't get the whole football thing and those that do don't appear to be worried so i don't get all up in arms about it. However quite how these union leaders can go into these talks and call for strike action whilst taking that sort of pay is beyond me. How their members tolerate it as well, that pay is made up of your £20 per month subscriptions, maybe you would be better putting it in a private pension scheme rather than lining their pockets. Bet they aren't at home worrying about the loss of a days pay and how their going to do the food shop this week because of it. dan
  21. I think its a case of the grass always appears greener, the think the chance of the private sector paying three times the amount for the same sort of job is a rumour (although happy to be proved wrong, my theory isn't built on any proper evidence). The same thing for the cleaners on £40k. Dan
  22. I understand your logic but the term banker has been plastered on anyone who works for a bank full stop.
  23. I like to think mine could eat one in one mouthfull if it got too yappy and snappy.
  24. Completely agree, good post. my comments were more aimed at the post below. Dan
  25. Starting money for counter staff about £13000 maybe. I don't feel overpaid (not branch based but ain't living in a mansion either). Do you want to take that back as a wild, off the cuff, unsubstantiated comment probably fuelled by media propaganda? Dan
