  1. I think for whats it worth...If you put the same effort into quitting the fags as you do into writing these pointless threads then you'd be sprinting up your permissions like Linford Christie. No offence like.
  2. Cheers guys, think wax is the way forward then! How should i be waxing it?
  3. Thanks. I'm just wanting to 'wax on - wax off' if you know what I mean. Wash the car, wait for it to dry and then polish it. What would you recommend for that? Is there a difference between waxing and polishing? Many thanks for the reply.
  4. Folks, I fancy polishing the car now we're in winter and all the bugs and **** is off the bodywork. Any recomendations for decent cheap electric ones or brands to look for and what pads to get for simple use? Cheers. Happy New Year.

  8. Been a good while since I posted on here but I dont post everything I shoot, doesnt mean I dont go out though. Yesterday morning the plan was to go out to one of my permissions that attracks a fair few geese of a few different varieties. It had been a while since I had been here but I know one of the fields floods and holds water like a pond for some of the winter. The day was foggy and spitting misty rain so I couldnt be bothered putting out any decoys. So I made my way up to see a blackie ewe stuck stuck in the fence with its head twisted behind its back, didnt look too good. I couldnt move it so called my friend to come and set it free. So I thought I would start walking away down nearer the pond and see if anything drops out of the fog. Sure enough a flock of 30 or so Greylags drops outs and flys over me. Damn! No chance of them coming back over as im out the open, I load the Maxus anyway and sure enough they double back, maybe still disorientated by the fog and fly over me. 3 shots and 2 birds drop. First time I've shot a Greylay and very chuffed I am too. Especially with my brand new Maxus!!!So they are both now in the fridge. Nothing much came back over me and with 2 birds not much sense in shooting much else. Later on after tea the plan was a change of quarry at my best mates hill farm to keep on top of the foxes. In the many many previous occasions my tally has stood at just 2 foxes but I was too double this figure this time in one go. The terrain is hard going and the distances you can walk are endless. We usually go on foot scanning the fields around the farm. The foxes here are wiley and dont generally hang around. If one is in the lamp then its usually a case of get down and shoot as they dont hang about. Many nights out have ended in empty bags and many times nothing seen such is the vast landscape. So we couldnt be bothered going up hill last night so just went for a drive in the pick up around the lower lambing fields near the road which will be getting used in the spring. The weather was mild, a swirling wind and misty rain. First field, there doesnt appear to be anything there so we continue driving to the next fild down the road and scan to see a large fox meandering diaginally across the field unaware of out presence. My mate parks up keeping the lamp just off the fox, I get out and chamber a round. The end result after whistling for him to stop is a large dog fox dropped on the spot at around 130yrds from me taking the shot off the bonnet. From leaving the farm to this point was about 20mins! It never happens like this! Anyway i'm very chuffed! We then think of going back nearer the farm to lamp where we started off a while back and sure enough another is spotted. Turning out to be a funny night, we spot it coming down a small hill and my mate is happy for me to go out and try another shot off the bonnet. I oblige and get postioned to see the fox now in the rashes, anyhow still plenty of chest showing I fire off the round to see it drop on the spot. WE go to pick it up and find its a vixen. Shot through the chest, the exit wound is behind the should as it seems to have deflected some how on impact. Im very very pleased and great to know the rifle is shooting straight and working very well. Very satifying as I spent alot of time, effort and money setting it up to be the best I could make it. The dog is the top fox and weighed in at 21 pounds. Both foxes werent even squeaked in at all, just picked up in the right place and whistled to stop. Makes up for all the times you get nothing or have to work really hard just to get a shot. Both taken with .243 100g soft points. Thanks for reading.
  9. Good shooting! What carts are you using? I have to say i've shot **** all season for the geese hopefully it impoves at some point!
  10. Just wondering if anyone can give some advice please. My Dad has a male Patterdale/Lakeland cross terrier who is approaching 1 year old. He is fine in respect of the sit, stay and come commands when no other distractions are around. However this is not the case as soon as he either sees or smells potential prey like fox deer bird or cat. What ever you say to him or whistle he is off and only comes back when he feels like it. Even as soon as he starts to look like he's interested in something we would call him back but to no avail and then he's gone for 30 mins. As you casn imagine this is quite stressful when he is gone incase he gets injured, injures any lives stock or creates another problem. We've had our fair share of dogs running off in the past after quarry such as lurchers and jack russels, however this one seems far more eager to go and chase. We dont want to restrict him to a lead as we are very much of the correct opinion that a dog on a lead is not having the best quality of life. As a shooting person and someone born/brought up and lives in the country I have plenty of space to walk him when Dad is around. Could someone with experience of this provide some direction/thoughts as to what we could do to get him better trained and begin to solve the issue while he is still young?? Some assistance and thought would be much appreciated. Yours GB.
  11. Magic thanks. I wouldnt mind getting to the game dealer as well but I was always worried about them not being chilled over night and flies ets in in a garden shed or outbuilding etc...I didnt want to shoot anything and then not be able to deal with it after.
  12. Do you have any chilling facilities at the MIL's or do you cut them up that night and freeze??? I've have a dilema right now in that i'm struggling to hang anything as I could really do with a drinks fridge or some chill space but i'm wondering if shot at night could they hang in a shed or similar overnight and cut up in morning or the night they've been shot? Cheers GB.
  13. Great result - what are you using to pull them in?
  14. Exactly what I was thinking, still some work to be done there.
  15. Exactly, we'll keep the oil revenue thanks and the rest of you can **** off and debte how perfect Englandshire is.
  16. I'm after one of the 2 above either the Montane Extreme Smock or the Buffalo Special 6 shirt. Anyone have any experience of either? From online reviews, of which there are many, the Montane seems to have more features, more water repellant and cheaper but is very warm sometimes too warm. Both are made in the same material. Any advice on either garment? I know military use them and they come in olive green and not coveryed in logos making them look rather good. Thanks. GB.
  17. Well done - was she carrying?
  18. That your old Predator 8 ? If so did they/you replace it?
